86: Eighty-Six - Episode 01: Undertaker

If I had a nickel for everytime I had a diabolical hyperfixation on a series that has a main character with a decapitation motif that has died at some point before being brough back to life and this character has severe trauma that is covered up by a stoic front when in reality this character cares so much about the people around them and they live in a world they are destined to try to save from destruction and they are the BAMFs you'll ever meet on the battlefield and it is through being with the love of their life that they gain the courage to truly face their trauma and the world and try to stop ignoring the memories and emotions they've been repressing for so long and are technically of noble descent but don't really want to focus on that aspect of their lives and their love interest is the prettiest sunshine beauty with the longest eyelashes you would ever be blessed to see, and their love interest is also the smartest badass strategist/leader that commands with charisma, honor, and kindness and they've shared a dance with said love interest with all the greatness European ambiance can offer and have the black motif as one of their main colors, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

#when I say the romance is peak in both of these series it's absolutely peak #I guess I like seeing my stoic traumatized main characters being healed by found family friends and love #stories with romance as a subplot are peak of peak please don't try to change my mind #i guess its funny because one series is a fantasy politics action regression omegaverse romance R18 Korean BL #and the other is a sci-fi action mecha war politics romance seinen Japanese LN #Eighty Six is such a good story that builds upon finding hope in despair and learning to grow outside of the circumstances built around you #But Asato-sensei is gonna have to bring my girl Lena back into the story #Like let me see her in person she's the reason I'm here #Cause too much despair is happening in the most recent volume and I don't want a long distance ShinLena no more #Turning on the other hand is probably the most fun I've had with a rofan plus regression story in a real long while #Cause regression stories are a guilty pleasure of mine but Turning has me feeling more than I've ever felt in a long while #cause yes there's romance but there's also historical mysteries; anti-crime plots; wonderful side characters; slice-of-life; and more #i think recency bias has me enjoying Turning more than Eighty Six #And also maybe because I'm growing as an adult but I enjoy seeing a mature adult romance more and more #and Kishiyu has me blushing and screaming like it's no one's business #But Eighty Six will always have a bigger place in my heart cause the anime and LN got me through COVID #both stories are so heavy with lore that it makes my lorehead self drool at the mere mention of lore that may or may not be plot relevant #turning novel #터닝 #turning by kuyu #kishiar la orr #yuder aile #kishiyu #eighty six #86 eighty six #エイティシックス #shinei nouzen #vladilena milize #shinlena
