“It’s time to be the hero you pretend to be or admit you’re the villain”
Holy shit is that Jimmy of all people I’m hearing with one of the coldest lines in the series so far?? Ever since he apologized to Kara, he’s been a way better character lol.
The concept of creating a world ending threat and then running away when it’s about to end the world 😭
This season is a really nice follow up to last year’s Superman film as Lex has now been called out in each for being the very thing he claims Superman and the Kryptonians are. Like yea, we created an evil Superman just a couple weeks ago that went awful, now we’ll make an even stronger being that totally won’t go rogue and try to destroy the world. What could go wrong!?
It’ll be interesting to see what sort of character development Lex has as a result of this
The way you can see how much trauma and pressure Jon and Lara have had to deal with in their timeline and this scene of Lara struggling to make a decision just reminds you they’re both still kids being thrust into a very difficult situation.
I’m sure Lois in the future wants to connect with them and make them feel better, but with Clark gone and a world ending threat out there, she just doesn’t have the ability to express herself in the way she’d like, but present Lois can say the words for her. The fact it’s the same sort of pep talk Lara got before they left confirms the same kind and loving Lois exists in the future, she’s just been battle hardened and then you have the fact it’s already usually harder for moms to connect with sons since they crave male guidance and role models!
Kara has become the universal Jonathan whisperer in every timeline😭 she’s that cool aunt that your parents send to talk to you when they can’t get through to you because she just understands you.
As someone who used to be filled with rage and has been through a lot herself, she knows first hand what it’s like to be on your own like Jonathan feels in both of these timelines now and she’s always able to talk some sense into him.
I really feel for Jonathan because Lois in the future probably talks about Clark a lot and makes him out to be some mythological figure, not because he’s perfect, but because he embodies all that’s good in the world, never gives up and she misses him. That comes across as making him seem perfect though which obviously gave Jonathan a lot of self esteem issues because every boy just wants to measure up to their dad!
Talk about a WTF ending! They went full dbz with Jonathan slicing eradicator in half like trunks did frieza, except ofc it’s not that simple here. Should be in for what I hope will be one of the best fights of the series.
Only seen a portion of their strength, but it begs the question how does Lex maintain the title of world’s smartest man when he keeps doing stupid shit like making these nigh god-like beings and being surprised when he can’t control them? One of the unfortunate aspects of having someone who isn’t the smartest person in the world writing a character who’s meant to be that. Also, if you’re making a being stronger than Superman when your justification is that Superman is too powerful and therefore uncontrollable? Lol
The ending is some of the darkest stuff they’ve done on the show.. the Kryptonians enslaving and turning the invaders into the brainiac system is horrifying. That empire and planet needed to go, rest in piss.
When you accidentally invent heavy metal music in alternate timeline Japan. Suddenly, we’re babymetal lol. If I had a nickel for every time Kyoani made a show about cute girls in a band..
So is this show just going to be Kihachi and his assistants showing up Yousuke every week with the power of electricity while he desperately tries to catch up, lol? If so, sign me tf up because this was so cool. I’m so happy for Inako as well for showing up her misogynistic scumbag of a father who only cares about marrying her off to pay off his debts. Who gives a fuck if people don’t wanna marry her for performing in public as an unmarried woman, that sounds like a YOU problem, not hers.
S/O kengo making this all possible by surpassing his limits and helping power the band lol.
I think the saddest thing about Lisa’s backstory is that she’s been living in the human world for so long atp and still has no understanding of humans because she’s kept her heart closed the entire time due to her resentment and trauma. The way she talked about the scientist who was working on the potion’s last testament so flippantly kinda hurt because it showed a fundamental lack of knowledge of the human experience and spirit.
Again, I don’t blame her for this because she had those awful experiences, but the irony is the goodness of humanity was on full display in him and she was never able to see it and realize that her negative experience doesn’t define an entire species. Even outside of that, she literally works at an aquarium with kids, who are universally accepted as the best of humanity because they aren’t born with inherent hatred or biases and she still doesn’t get it.
That said, Lisa’s backstory has just totally endeared her as a character to me. Such a heartbreaking tale of resilience and determination. She’s been struggling for so long to save her people and even after Lara technically caused it, she still wants to reconnect with her sister too. I love when antagonists have arguments that are valid and make you question what you’d do in the same situation!
“Continue to be the light that shines on me” 💔
After seeing Lisa’s backstory I have absolutely no issue with her hating humans and I think this creates a really interesting conflict because both she and Lara are totally valid for feeling the ways they do about humans.
You can only really judge things based on your own experiences and Lisa’s experience with humans have been horrifying, captured and put on display like a lab rat, alone for so many years until Kota came to save her, which btw is a nice contrast to Lara being alone until she met Mari.
They did a good job of making me care about Kota and Lisa as much as Mari and Lara which makes the stakes even higher because no matter what, someone’s gonna be disappointed and hurt here. Either Lara turns her back on her own flesh and blood for this new life and world or she abandons her best friend. No one really wins here and both sides have competing visions for the future with neither being wrong, it’s just a matter of perspective.

What an incredibly well written episode, we might have to fully commit to team Lisa atp because what do you mean she’s had to live like this in constant fear of turning into foam for all this time??
Cannot imagine the hell she and Kota have had to endure for so long. It’s a good thing she had him because I think she’d have broken down a long time again if she were alone. I love Lara and Mari, but it’s going to be hard to root against Lisa after everything I’ve seen.
The way each couples’ white day gift exchange is so emblematic of their relationships. Tani having quietly done his research to pick out things Miyu would like, Nishi being giddy to finally see her bf after school and the two of them being shy and awkward initially before Yamada’s honesty and excitement about the future breaks the ice
Then Taira and Azuma’s chill ride home where Taira just blurts out the sweetest and coolest stuff effortlessly! This is why Azuma fell for him, even if he doesn’t know how cool he is, she does and she’ll stop at nothing to help him realize it
3 different ships moving at their own paces that we all love 🥹
My favorite thing about Taizuma is how Azuma is so desperate to help Azuma through his problems and help him see the amazing person she sees in him, but she does it in a way that’s totally in-line with their established relationship. So instead of getting all flustered, stuttering and doing the usual anime tropes, she makes jokes and tries to get him to open up to her so she can give advice. She’s such a beautiful person who’s determined to meet the person she likes where he is 🥹
The way she got so upset on his behalf when she found out about people making fun of his laugh back in elementary school too, she’s basically already in overprotective girlfriend mode! Taira doesn’t realize it yet, but when he helped her through the situation with her fake ass friends, it completely changed her life and made him the coolest guy in the world to her, and she’s determined to make him realize that. Notice how she made him comfortable enough to laugh in front of her at the end as well. Slowly, but surely, we’re seeing him take those steps.
Cannot believe we’re really starting the final arc of beatbreak and never got another OP lmao
So if you think about, Kyo owes pretty much everything good that’s ever happened in his life to Tomoro’s brother because if he didn’t meet Asuka, he’d never have met Cougarmon/become a cleaner.
No wonder he was so hell bent on taking Tomoro in and keeping him on the right side of the tracks like Asuka did for him when he was getting in trouble at the orphanage. You can actually see a lot of Tomoro in Kyo as a child as well! Both rebellious and uber aggressive because they struggled to express their emotions.
Even as a kid, you can see Kyo was a digimon rights activist as well, which is cool. We love a consistently woke person lol.
So all routes lead back to Asuka. Not only was he the key to Kyo’s entire life, but also Wong’s Shangri La plan. Out of all the evil shit Wong’s done, bringing Asuka back as a puppet and making him fight his little brother who he’d kill to protect and would do anything to ensure was happy is beyond vile. There’s just no way this show can end without Wong dying a horrific death idc man.
The look on Tomoro’s face as he goes from pure elation to utter dejection when he realizes Asuka’s not really there, but being mind controlled, absolutely broke me. And let’s not forget poor Heliosboamon as well who’s clearly in a tremendous amount of pain as you hear those screams!!
Cannot believe we only have 7 episodes left of Beatbreak man I’m not ready for this to end at all, seems like there is so much more story they could tell here, but I’m going to trust Toei to execute the ending well and give all our faves a happy ending. I could’ve done with 60+ episodes of this crew though! My favorite cast in Digimon history idc.
Oh my gosh hair down Tennoji is sooo pretty, thank you for this meal😍
Really nice to get an episode almost entirely focused on best girl, got to see a different side of her today and developed an even deeper appreciation for her character. I have always liked how perceptive and emotionally intelligent she is, so her clocking Itsuki had a bit of imposter syndrome being around so many rich and elite kids didn’t surprise me too much.
But seeing her home life made me think about how lonely she must have been before Itsuki showed up at school. Basically this whole time she’s wanted to form a connection with Hinako who she sees as a rival, and she was unable to do so until Itsuki got them in contact. He’s basically opened an entirely new world up for her which is really sweet.
Wouldn’t be a romcom with rich girls if we didn’t have the classic fiancé gimmick. She’s totally gonna go after Itsuki now won’t she? She already has started to notice her feelings for him, so things should get really interesting here as Hinako is also realizing hers lol. I love both girls, so when that rejection inevitably happens, I’m gonna be really sad. Poly ending is the only way!
One of the oddest anime tropes is the heroine’s mom getting in the bath or being freaky with the MC when they’re a minor, like girl, what’re you doing??? and your husband’s down the hall?? I know she ended up having a bathing suit on and it’s her house, but still, weird.
I’m glad Yuzu is smart enough to realize that she probably doesn’t love Reiya yet and just likes what he represents for her, an escape from her abusive family and a new start.
It’s impossible to really love someone that you barely know, all their conversations revolve around shallow shit like him wanting to kiss her and flirty shit instead of the real nitty gritty convos you need to have to know if you really vibe and like a person. Obviously she thinks he’s hot and a nice person for the most part, but he’s so aggressive she’s had almost no time to actually examine her feelings because she went from meeting him to moving in in like 2 hours😭 and they’re rarely apart.
Even though Sakurako is about to start shit, I hope this arc allows Yuzu to grow as an individual and sort her feelings. As for Sakurako, idk why these people keep trying to mess with Reiya’s fiance when he’s established as the top dog in this universe both socially and strength wise.. if Sakurako bullies Yuzu out of the engagement, Reiya will find out and it’ll be over for her.. even if she gets her to call off the engagement of her own volition, Reiya will find out she’s been pressured, so again, what’s the point lol
