All it takes is one mistake..
I’ve been praising Sitara’s meteoric rise among the Mongol aristocracy and how she’s been so surgical and methodical in her networking and quest for revenge, BUT clearly she’s started feeling herself a little too much and got careless. You don’t rise from nothing to being The Great Khatoun for nothing, so it really should’ve gone without saying that Boraqchin is extremely intelligent, cunning and wise. She was married to Genghis Khan ffs, cmon Sitara! She thought she was playing Boraqchin and she was the one being played the whole time.
I’m really worried about Toregene because she’s become very dependent on Sitara, so I wonder how she’ll handle being interrogated without her right hand girl next to her. She has survived among the Mongols for this long, but this is a tad bit different.. being held by arguably the wisest person in the empire.. I need next episode asap.
“until the day when a Digimon like myself can live in harmony with you…” 🥹
No one talk to me because the fact Heliosboamon was so pure and kind that she’d rather disappear than put Asuka and Tomoro in any more danger just for Wong and his henchman to bring she and Asuka back as puppets to fight Tomoro and the others is pissing me OFF. I need Wong to d!e so bad bro and it better be painful, full blown deletion idc.
Again, everything goes back to Asuka being at the center of this story and really the engine that made everything start rolling, which is funny because he’s barely been in the show lol. Idk what the term is for it, but I love when characters’ presence hang over the story for the full length even if they’re not on screen. Wong’s whole Shangri La plan all hinges on Asuka and Heliosboamon doing that dark mega evolution again, but it begs the question just wtf is he planning because they nearly killed half the city when she went out of control for a few seconds..
And here go this Kaito mf desperately trying to be relevant and hang on to the “Kyo the golden’s rival” gimmick. Let it go brother it’s been years, Kyo moved on. He loves Asuka 😭 dude has been trying to get Kyo’s attention forever, hopefully Kyo beats him into next year in the next episode and should be getting the rest of the group’s megas soon as well with only 6 episodes left to go.
“I’m sorry I said I hate you” 😭😭
Just thinking about the fact Asuka and Tomoro genuinely had no one but each other because the government took their parents and granddad.
Asuka is probably in his early 20s when he basically had to step up and be a father to Tomoro while he’s still growing up himself and he never once complained or made it about him, it was always about his little brother and making sure he had everything he needed. It would’ve been so easy to get angry at the world and Tomoro when he threw those hissy fits, but he just doubled down on his love and was there for his little brother. That’s a real man. I love this dude and I’m gonna cry sm when they finally have that reunion and hug.
My worst fear come true. This is lame to me sorry, the black outfit has way more aura and is unique. Going with the standard redemption arc white outfit because she’s good now is boring. Why can’t we have nice things
Thank God this is back to free us from “Mushoku Tensei” and remind us what a real isekai looks like.
“He’s just temporarily invisible at the moment. He’ll show himself once the snowy season has passed.”
Will never get tired of seeing ram snap and breakdown when she finds out Subaru forgot Rem in the tower. Subaru is her only physical connection to her sister who she herself has forgotten and saving rem has also become her raison d’etre, so for Subaru to forget makes her feel like she’s all alone in this battle and has no one.
However, regardless of if he has his memories or not, Subaru is Subaru no matter what and you can see her go from heartbroken to relieved that even in this form, Subaru has the same determination and resolve that made Rem fall in love with him and Ram look up to him. That smirk as she’s walking away just says it all. She can always count on Subaru to come through when it matters most. Even if all hope seems lost, he’ll find a way. He will always live up to the idealized version of himself that others believe in. Ram will never say it, but he’s her hero too.
The Rivals of Amziah King ✅ 4/5
Arguably the best “save the bees” advert ever. This honey shit gets SERIOUS. For the first 1:45 this was amazing and one of the best films of the year. It lost me in the final 40 minutes. I think the foster daughter’s revenge tour just got a bit too edgy, I didn’t mind the thief and mastermind being punished, but wtf did the wife have to do with this? It’s kind of like a darker version of The Sheep Detectives with Hugh Jackman and makes for a good two part binge watch tbh.
Matthew McConaughey and Angelina LookingGlass were amazing, Angelina really sold the revenge arc well and like I said, I was cool with most of it until the end. Also nice to see Cole Sprouse in something for the first time since I was a kid. His Otis side character was so good.
Besides the acting performances, the musical performances in the film were the other highlight for me. There’s so many good old fashioned country bangers in this, I need the soundtrack immediately. I think it’s a very well directed film and one of the most enjoyable watches of the year. Didn’t feel like 2.5hours at all.
The end of oak street ✅ 3/5
Well, this was my most anticipated film of the second half of summer and.. it was just ok. I loved Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor’s performances and in many ways it plays out like an 80s/90s Spielberg family adventure film that we used to get a lot of, but it just fell flat for me. If you’re wanting some classic Spielberg, though, this is up your alley.
I really would’ve liked to have gotten more lore and explanation as to what caused the time travel instead of some passing wormhole mention, would’ve liked to have gotten more interaction with the forest and areas outside of the neighborhood, it feels very cramped and contained, some more world building, etc. I’m also not a fan of how it ended because what do you mean you let the alternate you’s get isekai’d while you keep the dad to yourself 😭
Some really tense and fun moments, I think the third act is probably the best, but other than that, it’s an ok film. Probably better if you don’t over analyze it like me, I just wanted more than a couples therapy film. After doing It follows, this is definitely a step back for David Robert Mitchell, but, it was really cool to see a metro Detroit setting and so many Michigan references! Definitely feels like it could fit in the wider cloverfield universe as well, not sure if that’s JJ’s plan or not.
“If you hate this world so much, don’t ever come back from the other one”
We love a morally ambiguous MC! On the one hand, Soma was objectively evil and took pride in killing and torturing Motoko’s men, on the other hand, she also did a very evil thing by having him kill his 16 year old son who was innocent. I can’t really blame Soma for trying to get revenge on Motoko by having she and her boyfriend’s teams fight/almost kill each other. But tbf, his son never would’ve been in that position had he not been a terrorist.
Being another public security agent and dating Motoko must be so funny too because she’s never gonna miss taking a chance to brag about her team getting the win lmao. Another really fun episode that went by so quickly.
If it’s one thing my girl Motoko gon do, it’s pull. She ain’t ever gonna be alone for too long, whether it’s male or female. My bisexual queen 😭
Noticing a trend of her never being able to have a normal fun outing with her partner(s) though. The lesbian orgy got interrupted and now bombed with her man. You’d need a special insurance plan dating her ass
“I wanted to go back to you after I got cleaned up” 💔💔
The concept of having to drag your immortal girlfriend’s mutilated corpse in a blood soaked body bag, oh my God??
I knew a situation like this would inevitably happen, but I can’t believe how casually the teacher handed Sheena, a student, the body bag like it was no big deal, especially when Mimi is meant to be a classified top secret weapon?? Sheena is stronger than most because I would’ve broken down and been traumatized for life here.
What’s even sadder is the fact Mimi only keeps going by thinking about making it home to Sheena, even when she’s in immense pain, Sheena is the only thing on her mind and that pushes her forward
“Please for as long as possible continue to thrive and blossom” 🥹🥹
True love is selfless and only concerned about the person you love being happy and I just see that so well reflected in Sheena. She is a kind and empathetic person naturally, but when it comes to Mimi literally all she wants is for her to lead a happy life with no expectation of anything in return, almost like the love a mother has for a child. I just have a feeling that won’t get to happen by the end of this. Every episode has had me on edge lately where I feel like some heartbreak is around the corner, I hope I’m wrong.
Love will set you free..
I know the whole love conquers all thing is a little cliche, but idc, Rogue and Gambit deserve happiness! It’s a nice way to tie the ending of this season back to the start where apocalypse and rogue had that conversation about love being able to overcome any obstacle, something a person like Apocalypse could never understand.
I also really like how the super rogue form is basically the physical embodiment of she and Gambit’s love, this arc was definitely rushed, would’ve liked a few more rider of death gambit episodes, but Rogue redeemed herself for me after how she did Gambit so dirty last season. She didn’t hesitate at all to take on a celestial and make the ultimate sacrifice for Gambit, so she’s good in my book.
X-Men 97 season 2 ✅ 8/10
Although I still enjoyed this season and it’s got some amazing peaks like Magneto’s big moment during the ancient Egyptian arc, Polaris episode and the Rogue moments in the final few episodes, I gotta say I think this was a step down from season 1.
Felt like the pacing was all over the place here and after setting up apocalypse as the main antagonist, we had some weird filler-like episodes that just didn’t do much for me. 9 episodes went by and I can’t say it felt like much happened until the last couple episodes when stuff started happening a bit too quickly for my tastes.
It’s not a bad season by any stretch of the imagination, the production values are still great and there’s a lot of fun moments, but I just would’ve liked to have got more of.. idk, Apocalypse? The main antagonist of the season? Also, a longer final battle instead of just 8 minutes in the finale? Maybe stretch out the gambit stuff longer? Obviously, they’re working within the time constraints of 25 minutes and only 9 episodes and they want to do an arc per season, I get it, but it feels like this was an all around weaker season. Ending last season off with Gambit’s sacrifice vs this season’s sacrifice.. no comparison, just didn’t have the emotional impact or buildup for me.
Still, show looks absolutely incredible and it’s a continuation of one of the best revivals ever, so it’s worth checking out. Hopefully next season is paced better and feels a bit more coherent.
“There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
They just couldn’t stand to give us a happy ending could they 😭 Kurt didn’t even hesitate to step in and pay the ultimate price for Rogue, as soon as he saw the look on her face, he knew she’d done something crazy and he’d do anything to protect his sister. Genuinely one of the most underappreciated comic book characters ever. As a Christian, I can also say he’s certainly a true follower of the word and I believe his faith will be rewarded 🥹
Surprise, surprise, my theory that Mystique was cooper ended up being right. No way they’d go two seasons without bringing my goat back. RIP(presumably) to the original Cooper. I need season 3 now and hopefully it’s a bit better paced than this one.
The Ribbon Hero ✅ 8/10
I really enjoyed this for what it was, which is a 2 hour long condensed version of a 3 year long manga run with beautiful art, great action and a lovable non gender conforming protagonist.
Inevitably, condensing a manga run into such a short runtime will lead to awkward pacing and some cuts, but I was able to follow along pretty well for the most part and still understood the message the film was trying to get across. I think it maybe could’ve done with another 25-30 minutes for more Pine x Sapphire development and Sapphire’s friends, maybe a little more on the non binary stuff, but I was satisfied with how things played out here.
The final act does feel a little flat and anti climatic compared to the build up that we see in the first 4-5 acts, but given the explanation that we got for the Negral’s abilities and existence, it kinda makes sense it played out that way. But that probably is the biggest issue facing the film.
The production values are absolutely gorgeous. I believe this is studio Outline’s first ever feature film and they did an amazing job. The storyboarding, direction and character designs courtesy of Mochizuki Kei are stellar. This is a feast for the eyes and worth a watch for the artistry of it all alone.
I am all for the recent trend of bringing back older manga with remakes and updated adaptations. Tezuka sensei’s work is timeless and to think such a progressive story was written 73 years ago in post war Japan shows you how far ahead of his time he was.

The fact that a manga featuring a non binary/gender fluid protagonist was written 70+ years ago and today you have white dudes in Nebraska crying about anime being too woke for having LGBTQ representation, lol. Reminder that anime has always and will always be “woke” and the only “tourists” are those who don’t accept that.
