I knew Granville was coming, but I didn’t expect the big battle to start so soon! The irony of Granville blaming Rimuru for Maribel’s death when he’s working with the guy who killed her. Also mind you she attacked Rimuru first?? And using otherworlders as meat shields because he knows Rimuru won’t kill innocent people literally disproves the entire argument that Tempest is a threat to the world. If you don’t bother Rimuru, he won’t bother you.
It’s clear Granville don’t even have a consistent ideology anymore and is just following this path he feels he locked himself into and can’t stray from because this makes no sense. It is nice to have an enemy who doesn’t just try to brute force a fight against Rimuru and actually goes for his emotional weaknesses like killing innocents, makes things much more interesting since atp very few people can stand against him directly.
One Night Only ✅ 2/5
The Purge, but make it about sex and have it written by an 18 year old. On one hand, the premise and writing of this film are mind bogglingly stupid and the trailers we’ve seen before every film for the last 3 months were the best part, this is basically America is groypers ran it, on the other, I loved Callum Turner and Monica Barbaro’s chemistry and every scene with them was so fun. Making us sit through 2 hours of this and not even getting a sex scene with them is absolutely diabolical though. Yea I get sex isn’t what they personally cared about, but dude, the sex is integral to the story here.
Idk what Will Gluck thought he was cooking here, but this shit was ass other than the two leads.😭 I smiled when they got together at the end, but this could’ve been condensed into something 30 minutes shorter. Dragged on for ages with a lot of unnecessary twists and turns. Yes, I like yearning, but with a purpose, not just for the sake of it like in this film.
I actually think this would’ve been a lot better if it changed genres halfway thru and became a thriller because it makes absolutely no sense that people in America would be ok with state supervision and a ban on premarital sex without some sort of mass uprising against a fascist state. Just hard to really get immersed in the film when you know the premise is so unbelievable. Banger soundtrack tho.
I’m annoyed af because how you gonna remove the best character from the show, Julia literally just got here now she’s going back?? Mizuki so lucky because imagine having a friend love you so much, they study abroad halfway across the world just to check on you🥹 luckiest girl ever.
And what about my haters to lovers Julia x Nakatsu ship because you can literally see the moment Julia starts falling for Nakatsu, so surely she has to come back at some point?? Maybe after he confesses and learns the truth about Mizuki ?? Can’t leave my boy with nothing, surely right?
Honestly gambit can do no wrong in my eyes because he’s been done so bold in this show. Got cucked all season 1 by the WORST ship in comic history ultimately rejected by the woman he loved, even when she ain’t deserve it, dies in the most heroic manner possible, then even in death, he can’t rest because apocalypse is using him as a pawn. Has to be the most tragic character in the show and I’ll always be his biggest apologist.
Idk how I feel about this week’s episode because it seems like the pacing was all over the place, as has been a theme this season in general, but I do like being right.
Called earlier that Rogue and Apocalypse conversation about love would be the x factor(pun intended) here as Rogue was able to save Gambit thanks to the power up boost he gave her from apocalypse’s power out of love. Also, a nice parallel with how x ternal betrayed apocalypse when she got that power because Apocalypse has never been loved in his life, while Rogue uses it to double down on her love for Remy.
Ending of the episode sets us up for an interesting finale, I’m still 90 percent sure that Valerie Cooper is gonna end up being Mystique, what her ultimate plan is still remains unknown, but there’s no way we go 2 seasons without seeing her, right?
The good old “if I bring my friends, my mom won’t say no” method we all used to use as kids, good to see it hasn’t been patched 😭
I was gonna say they should’ve just come clean to Mio’s mom, but she’d put belt to ass on all of them so they probably made the best choice. I really can’t blame her mom for being anti video game considering how much Mio played and at the cost of her grades, BUT eventually she’s gonna have find out and accept her daughter for who she is. Not everyone is meant to be a scholar, some girls just wanna play fighting games.
One look from Jean and I would’ve been helping her break into damage control, no mind control needed. Whatever mommy needs done gets done
“Let the two of us summon a new storm”
Finally, after all these years of suffering in silence and alone, Toregene has found someone who can truly understand her pain and help free her from it in Sitara.
Their backstories are so similar because Sitara was sold off to Fatima and became her de facto daughter and came to love her new home in the same way Toregene came to love Dayir and the Merkit people before both had their lives cruelly uprooted by the Mongols. Now they can fight back together, in their own way. I cannot wait to see their revenge tour, both of these women deserve so much better.
“He failed to see just how much I loved him” 💔
This episode absolutely broke me and I love that because it’s a testament to how well written this story is that after only 30 minutes or so of knowing her, I feel so connected to Toregene and just want to see her happy and free of all these years of mental and emotional anguish
I know you can’t judge history by today’s standards, but it still makes my stomach churn seeing all these women basically forced into these awful situations with no agency of their own. At least Dayir ended up being the best possible husband she could’ve been married of to and valued her as a human being, never made advances on her and truly protected she and the other women of the Merkit tribe. Idk how historically accurate it is, but they certainly made the Merkit seem more honorable and decent than the Mongols. They managed to fill the Naiman sized hole in her heart, just for that home to be brutally shattered as well.
Could not imagine having to bear the children of the people who took that away from me and act like you’re one of them. Every day must feel like a humiliation ritual to Toregene.
Ok but can we talk about how cool it is to see central Asian traditions depicted with so much reverence and love? Such a beautiful scene showing how integral spirituality was to the people of the Asian steppe. I don’t know how many Mongolians/central Asians are watching this show, but I think they’ll feel really happy about how well represented their cultures have been.
This episode was so hard to watch with all the arranged marriages and using women as political tools, but I have the utmost respect to Khulan for looking at her situation as an opportunity to save her people. To be so young and so brave, what an incredible human being.
“Is it okay for me to tell people we’re dating” it’s the fact that Nishi was so worried about people from school seeing the two of them on a date and being her boyfriend is literally the best thing to ever happen to Yamada, lol. He’s so proud to be hers and he doesn’t mind letting the whole world know. That should be a big confidence boost for Nishi! I love them so much.
Now that Nishi x Yamada sailed, all eyes are on Taizuma and it’s cracking me up how they’re moving at their own pace. They just enjoy each other’s company so much and feel like best friends. No rush at all.
It’s a nice contrast to the more anxious Nishi x Yamada ship where they couldn’t even look at each other without blushing down the stretch. Both are great and I love both sorts of dynamics, they’re just different and that’s the cool thing about this series. It gives a nice variety of relationships and personalities. Everyone’s got their own pace and clock and I can’t wait to see Taizuma eventually take that next step!
YEP, just like I thought, Lisa will be the actual antagonist here trying to prevent Lara from finding her true love. TBH given what happened last time she fell in love with a human and the last time she listened to the witch, I can’t really blame Lisa for wanting to stop her. But ultimately this should be Lara’s choice not anyone else!
I really hope Lisa assistant didn’t get killed there at the end because we’re gonna get a sisterly blood feud if that’s the case.
“For what I want to protect now I choose to live” oh my god I’m ugly crying so bad, absolutely perfect ending to Kyo’s arc and the debut of our first mega evolution, Habakirimon. I figured we’d have to start getting megas with Souji controlling 3 Digimon, but the way they handled it was beyond perfect. It’s not anger or closing himself off that wins Kyo the fight, but opening up, being vulnerable and protecting his family, that’s true strength
One of the few cases where I’m ok with them not killing the villain because death would’ve been too easy a fate for souji. No idc about him being abused as a kid. Lots of people get abused and don’t do what he did. He needs to live forever with his actions, like Kyo has had to. This also makes Wong look even more evil because wtf do you mean all of this was an experiment to get that cube black???
Speaking of living, Reina bringing the bracelet to Kyo instead of leaving it at the grave so he can carry his old family with him forever instead of leaving them at the gravesite is so beautiful. It feels like Kiss of Life’s ED was made just for this moment.
Sadly, now that we’re getting megas, that means we’re nearing the end of beatbreak, if rumors are to be believed, we have a couple months left🥹
“Please let me draw manga with all my friends.” 💔
It would’ve broken me as a parent to hear my child is so afraid of me that they felt the only way to talk to me is through manga because they’re so used to me shooting down everything they want to do. I’m so glad Kokoro’s manga reached her mom and she gave her blessing to Kokoro being in the manga club because as a parent, there’s nothing better than seeing your child coming into their own and being surrounded by people who genuinely care for them!
Special S/O to Hikaru because without her giving the idea of communicating via manga, Kokoro would’ve never had this break thru with her mom. So she’s shown up, kissed Teshima-sensei and saved a mother-daughter relationship. Now we gotta get her slow ass paying attention and studying at school because the concept of failing a grade because you were too busy drawing manga is crazy.😭😭
“Could we start by first becoming friends?”
Ito really couldn’t have handled this Syu situation better, she’s a natural born big sister and tbh way better parent than the boys’ dad and her mom because how have you been living with a child who don’t even go to school or leave their room and just tolerating it? The saddest thing is this is not just an anime thing, but very much a real part of Japanese society with far too many people suffering from Hikikomori syndrome.
Meeting someone where they are and connecting thru a medium in which they’re comfortable is a great first step though so I’m excited to see how Ito and Syu’s relationship develops.
This week’s 3 way battle was so cool because we got to see the various methodologies of Suwa’s retainers and how they’re able to work in tandem even across great distances thanks to the elusive warriors keeping them adrift of developments. We’ve been worried about Ashikaga’s retainers’ abilities and Suwa had some aces up his sleeve the whole time too!
You could really see how much Nezu appreciated being entrusted with so much responsibility from his clan. I’m proud of him!
Despite the depressing ending, I feel like Ayako’s dad is alive and this is all a sleight of hand to trick and defeat the enemy. Can’t wait for next week!
