cool dice (and yes also nature is healing)
ok so im still just learning about this but it turns out if you want to understand anything about plants you also have to know about geology and meteorology and EVERYTHING IN THE WHOLE WORLD SO the northeast appears to have a bit of an unusual climate - this isotherm shows how it has comperable avg january temps (at sea-level) to areas of a much higher latitude like parts of alaska and the northern part of the scandinavian penninsula. but keep in mind, much of the northeast is not at sea-level, and while the appalachian mountains were worn down by the melting of the laurentide ice sheet, there are still significant elevation changes (oh AND its continuing to accumulate landmass now that the weight of a dummy thicc ice sheet isn't making the mantle flow away from the area), which means air has to rise to pass over the mountains, expanding and cooling at higher elevations with lower atmospheric pressure. AND ALSO low-pressure centers in the u.s. for whatever reason seem to converge over the northeast; these rotate counterclockwise and often bring down polar air into the area. AND ALSO are often reinforced by nearby high pressure cells over the hudson bay. so you get truly abysmal weather (affectionate) in a boreal forest with a treeline that ends at only 3800 ft in maine (compared to the similar latitude western alps with a treeline at 6,900 ft) AND ALSO theres also the matter of microclimates so-
nature is healing · a kind soul · lets go on a hike and forage for mushrooms · you’d be fine if society collapsed cool dice · nerd (complementary) · cool socks · pls tell me abt you special interest/hyperfixation
