In vain I have struggled; it will not do. I must now tell you that the planetarium scene--I’m sorry, the imaging suite scene--in eimeo’s Spice is THE MOST ROMANTIC scene I have ever read, in anything, anywhere, at any time, and I have two people in the world to scream about it with, two people (looking at you @mydaroga and @icmezzo), and they’re busy with other interests, and honestly, why is this not The Most Talked about fic in any fandom; I do not care that the ultimate premise, which you find out like 85% of the way into this quarter-million-word-length fic, is ultimately pure crack and has some, shall we say, logical holes; I DO NOT CARE. This is the most romantic thing I have ever read. It is one of the best things I have ever read. I literally clutch my chest when I read it. I literally gasp at the screen. The first kiss scene is the best kiss scene in anything. Ever. The planetarium scene is the most romantic scene. In anything. Ever. And the part where Kirk says, This is obscene--that, that is the hottest scene ever; I don’t care that he’s talking about moral repugnance and not a sex act; in fact it’s because he’s talking about moral repugnance and not sex that makes it hot; it’s because Kirk doesn’t find anything obscene except bureaucratic cruelty that makes me want to die, just like Buffy when Angel kisses her; COME ON, universe, send me all the Spice fans; I need this in my life.
Also. Also, also also. It’s not even the part where they touch and almost kiss that is so romantic in the planetarium scene. It’s not even the part where Spock realizes he will give into his desire, that he wanted to all along. It’s the part where Spock was going to show him some boring stars because he knows it would be too romantic to show Kirk something really beautiful that interests him, and he knows Kirk will understand why Spock chose boring stars but will forgive him for it, but then Kirk reveals that he had a frustrating day and Spock decides that he can’t show Kirk boring stars after a bad day; it would be a betrayal of trust. I just, I can’t, Spock; you are so fucked; Kirk, you are so fucked; they’re all so fucked, because they can’t actually fuck, or to be clear Spock won’t let them fuck; it’s so fucking epic; why aren’t all of you screaming; why isn’t the whole world screaming; Kirk/Spock why are you like this???
Okay back to your regularly scheduled radio silence. I’m so sick, y’all.
Spice Update!
I rather laughingly said I'd have this finished in a few months, and I'm pretty sure that was half a year ago. Either way, here's an update. :D
