Culling of the Populace
With a gasp Lord Davin throws himself back. "Demon!"
Turning around Lady Crofex screams in panic dropping her glass. "Run!"
"What are you doing?!" Shouting as he throws Sable aside Locken reaches the doors before realizing that they're locked from the outside.
Running forward swinging her zweihander Eirnet doesnt think. Once, cutting down the merchant guild head. Twice, removing the arm of a noblewoman. As Eirnet steps over a disarmed woman, she swings a final time disemboweling the woman's steward.
In the background, guards move only a step behind removing the rest of the filth from the room.
As she steps past a toppled dining table she hears the cracking of glass before turning to block the strike for her kidney.
"I will not die here!" Unable to study him before the charge she takes her stance.
She turns to parry the arming sword. Swing. Block. Backstep. Slash. Back and forth. Clearly a practiced swordsman he follows her blow for blow. Until. 'CRACK' His blade falls under her magically charged swing cleaving him shoulder to hip.
"You royalist whore."
"The words of a traitor may as well be the barking of a foaming mongrel." She calmly states not bothering to look back in the slightest.
The throne room was in chaos. Nobles running in terror. Their guards attempting and failing to put up a fight to the King's high guard.
Turning to the throne Eirnet saw a tall man sitting upon it, King Dan'tel II. With free-flowing grey hair reaching his waist, bright blue eyes, and a strong jaw he was a handsome man even into his mid-forties.
Turning to her. "Are you not going to continue removing this filth from my view?"
Staring ahead slowly mulling her words. "Do you use a warhammer to kill ants? It would be overkill."
Looking at her for a moment as the final nobles were killed he huffs. He then stands up seeing the last of the nobles fall. "You are right-" stretching his neck he continues. "-and you were the first to follow the command."
Raising his arms to address the room as he starts his way down the dias. "My loyal guards. You who have helped purge these false nobles who dared betray their oaths. Drug trade, rape, slavery. These are but a few of their proven crimes. Yet they controlled the courts. So I called forth my own jurors, and executioners with me as their judge. Let no man call you craven for you are heroes, and I shall ensure there are songs sung of this day. All except my current guards are to have the day off starting now."
Now at the bottom of the dias he smiles as his tone lowers. "Now that the speech is over I want to truly thank all of you."
Putting her hand behind her back taking a parade stance Eirnet states. "There is no need for thanks, Your Grace. We were merely doing our duty."
King Dan'tel puts his hand on her shoulder. "And yet, my thanks are given. So accept them when they are rightfully gained."
After thanking each guard by their name he leaves out the rear entrance to the throne room.
Separating, the high guard quickly leave the throne room in silence until only Eirnet remained. Standing before the throne as workers came in to clean the floor, she thinks onto what just occurred and recites a saying she remembers hearing from her mother years ago.
"For he is of the gods, throwing his crown to the sky, all below shall kneel."
After a few minutes of introspection, she leaves the room just as disappointed as she entered.
Yet as she leaves one of the workers look over and finish the rhyme. "For those who rebel, his wrath brings not but death, eternal shall he reign."
