            AN UNREADABLE LOOK PASSES ACROSS HER FACE    for a moment before her lips form a small,  strained smile.    i wish i was the good person you think i am,  she wants to confess,  to tell ada of her true nature,  but it was better left unsaid.  she takes a final look around at the terrible world around her,  where unspeakable monsters roamed,  she would not miss this world,  but she would miss ada.

            she thumbs at the hem of her sleeves,  unsure how to give a proper goodbye,  they could very well meet again,  but xaira wouldn’t set foot in the  hell  of raccoon city again unless ordered to.  she pauses a moment,  before giving ada as warm a smile as she could manage    “    good luck,  ada wong,  and thank you.    ”    with a wave of her hand a corridor appears to her right,  and she turns on her heel to walk into it,  more than happy to be returning to the castle.  halfway through the entrance she stops,  turning back to ada to give her one last wink.

            “    see you later.    ”

      ‘ just always carryin’ like that ? ‘ utterly disparaged against his own, lacking a semblance of self - awareness, albeit intentional. beneath the blue cloak of his jacket then, an equally azure petal for slaying devils ( keen to be loaded & pressed ) . least it was the best approach in his mind then. near impossible to illicit manners to express those emanating sensations from others. from something within him that reacted by presence of his blood.

          AS  SHE  PUSHED  SHERRY  BEHIND  HER     …      she stared at this woman  …  she had a lot of HEARTBREAKS through this little trip around raccoon city and not to seem rude, TRUST was the last thing on her mind.      ❝         i’ll be more than satisfied when i get this little girl out of here  …     ❞     it was an automatic reply, claire was risking her life for the safety of a child  … to be able to PROTECT, to fight for   …  it came naturally to her  ….  (  she  was  a  redfield  after  all  )

          IS   IT   ?   IS   THIS   HOW   IT     was   going   to   end   ?   no   last   stand   ,   no   blaze   of   glory   ———-   just   the   silence   of   the   night   and   the   RAIN   against   the   pavement   and   the   city   burning   to   the   ground   ?   no   ,   this   can’t   be   .   won’t   be   .   not   if   she   can   help   it   .   claire   turns   her   eyes   SKYWARD   ,   wonders   if   even   the   universe   has   limits   to   its   cruelty   .   (   after   what   she’s   seen   tonight   ,   she  already   KNOWS   the   answer   .   )   yet   she   stands   ,   remains   defiant   before   the   night’s   horrors   ,   revolver   in   hand   and   resolve   in   her   EYES   .   she   will   fight   .   she   will   fight   .   it   doesn’t   end   until   she   says   it   does   .   her   story   isn’t   over   until   she   decides   .   and   so   she   swears   ,   vows   to   the   dark   sky   that   she   will   SURVIVE   .   she   will   endure   and   persist   and   remain   when   nothing   else   does   .   “   no   ,   ada   ,   ”   claire   says   at   last   .   “   it’s   not   the   END   of   the   world   .    but   you   can   see   it   from   here   .   ”

            THE DARKNESS OF THIS WORLD WAS DIFFERENT,    untouched by the heartless,  yet still  plagued  by something of a terrible nature.  fingers clench tight around her glaive as she summons it,  footsteps light as she walks the edge of the rooftops,  careful not to alert the monsters below as she follows the lead of a reluctant dusk,  the creature being the cause of her unease for the most part,  it had returned to her quivering and stuttering in its warbled language after she’d sent it out for recon.  

            the monsters of this world were decidedly  not  heartless of any kind,  they were like nothing she’d ever seen before,  so mindless and  violent,  leaving chaos in their wake.  she paused to watch them shuffle about,  looking away quickly when she realized what exactly the closest group were devouring.  she follows the dusk until they reach a sewage grate,  following it inside with a resigned sigh,  the things i do for my job.  the inside is dark and the stench grew unbearable as she went deeper,  but  her  dusks had never led her astray,  so she followed closely anyways until she heard footsteps that weren't her own,  quickly she pulled the dusk into an alcove,  eyes narrowing as the adjusted better to the darkness,  making out the outline of a woman in red.
