hi im also studying archaeology, specifically mortuary archaeology. pls explain what space archaeology is im super curious

absolutely!

space archaeology is basically archaeology of spacecraft and other technology since the start of the space race!! there's also a pretty heavy anthropology element (with the first fieldwork being done in 2022 on the ISS regarding the use of surroundings with the astronauts!) and most of it is data recording and legal work.

there's a lot of problems right now because all space heritage is virtually completely unprotected, since no country can claim sovereignty in space (good!!) but therefore cannot claim anything to establish protections (bad!!)
