funnily enough, the emotion that scares calliope the most is love.

which is a weird juxtaposition, in a way. after all, her whole being is built on a foundation that is love. and she loves passionately, unashamedly, with all of her heart. she doesn't give love lightly. and that's why she's so terrified of it. it's hurt her before: (she thinks) it killed her sister, it killed all three of her romantic partners, took her baby from her...the list goes on. her relationship with love is a delicate balancing act.

so, when she feels love, especially new love, it shakes her down to her core. because if she gives in, if she loves this person, what if they leave her, too? in a more permanent way? but, like a moth to a flame, she just can't resist. that, is her hamartia.

he huffs and grabs them by the shoulder, cryo energy threatening to leave his hand. "don't."

   ' Have you ever celebrated this in Amphoreus? ' 

   The question comes naturally, curiosity picked as his hands stop working on the food for a moment; little rolls of bread have had the center carved out to fill them with a bit of spicy, cooked meat, patties have been set down to make small burgers that look more dainty than fulfilling, a bowl of crunchy chips has been set on the kitchen table... and @ekleips has not been whacked with the spatula, instead encouraged for once to get a feel of what they liked best. The end of the year is close, after all, and Kaeya feels indulgent about it as they approach something new. There's tenderness as he dabs an napkin at the corner of their mouth, puttering about pouring little pre-made cocktails in mugs- he doubts that the ethereally exquisite flutes could witstand Khaos's most delicate touch. With a snicker, he adds colorful, paper-cocktail umbrellas in each glass, delighted by their simple existence.

   ' If not, well... people usually celebrate by drinking a lot of alcohol and eating little finger food stuff. And they kiss their partners at midnight, ' he adds, a slip of mischievousness on his face. It softens immediately after as he rests his forehead on warm shoulder, arms circling muscular arm to snuggle properly after all that work. There's a quiet sigh of relaxation; they're in the privacy of their own traveling abode, and nothing can disturb them.

   ' Can you believe it's a whole year we've been together...? I'm at my happiest, and... I hope I make you happy, too. '

Phainon weaves through the party, a pair of soft reindeer horns adorned with shining green and red tinsel atop their head. In their hands, they skillfully balance two mugs of steaming hot chocolate, sprinkled with a generous helping of marshmallows. A bright grin stretches across their face as they settle into Mydei's lap and hand him a mug- the one with the extra helping of sugar. Nothing but the best for their Mydeimos, after all!

sitting on his throne that he ensured he found the space to summon - he is the king of castrum kremnos and no one would argue with him willingly - in a red paper hat, waiting for his beloved deliverer to return from whatever journey they insisted on going on. seeing phainon with the two mugs of hot chocolate, mydei chuckles lowly as he guides the other onto his lap and holds them there with one arm, the other wrapped around their waist as he takes the mug and hums. "thank you, dear."

the former archon sighs as he hears them approaching at full speed, mentally bracing himself for the bonk impending. watching them run and bonk him, mydei rolls his eyes as he grips onto them and doesn't even flinch from it and smirks. "nice try."

@ekleips: Golden eyes blink at the Hydro Sovereign, trying to place the surge of familiarity that runs through them at the sight. They don't remember him, but. . . surely he must be a friend? With a happy trill, they jump forward and BONK!

vishap eyes look over to the other, head tilting ever so slightly as the draocnic blood within resonated with them. he didn't understand why, but given how new the complete sovereign status is to neuvillette, he wasn't going to question it. that was, until phainon jumps forward and bonk him, and he staggered back slightly, grateful for his cane to keep him upright as he blinks in confusion.

"that was... an introduction? may i ask what that was for...?"

@ekleips: "So this is the power of the Hunt. . ." Golden eyes flit over the remains of their creations strewn across the ground as they stroll through the battlefield, hands clasped behind their back and silvery hair shining even amidst the smoke. They had been so excited to learn one of Lan's chosen was on their next target planet, and yet. "How disappointing." They purse their lips as their golden eyes found the other amidst the ruins. "Was that all?"

the creations were not hard to slaughter, especially when his past knowledge of amphoreus before his sudden departure played a crucial role in the slaughter. gold eyes remained focused as he punched through everything in his way, breaking no sweat or showing exhaustion before conjuring his lance to throw at the final crowd and letting it explode to kill them.

glaring up at the lord ravager that decided to show their face, mydei smirks as he folds his arms and shrugs slightly. their insults meant nothing when they made the weakest possible threats for him to handle, even lan would not call this a victory. "says the person responsible for all this and giving me weak targets."

without hesitation, he summons his lance before him and unfolds his arms, grabbing it and aiming the tip at the other with a smirk. "you don't know the power of the hunt, but don't worry, lapdog of nanook, i as the emissary and spawn of lan will enlighten you."
