Feel free to ignore if you've answered this already, but have you ever read Stone Butch Blues? If so what were your thoughts? I read it a couple years ago when I was doing some identity exploration and I thought it was really beautiful. Feinberg did a great job leading us through Jess's struggles with herself, interpersonal connections, and society at large. I love how Feinberg was very specific in never giving Jess very specific physical characteristics (like height or eye color) so that anyone could visualize themselves as her. The letter to Theresa always makes me cry. It's got its issues like everything does but imo the love and care Feinberg gave it is palpable

I had read it a long long time ago and had started a reread semi-recently but got distracted by a lot of work and set it aside, and then you sent me this ask last week and reminded me to pick it up again but i got distracted by more work stuff but then you reminded me again yesterday and i ended up reading like 75% of the book yesterday into this morning.

It hits different when you're older. God. I just feel so much tenderness for that kid now that im not a kid myself anymore. Its such a beautiful, painful book. The ways we love each other and hurt each other and keep on loving each other. The ways we keep each other alive. Getting older in a body and a world that never quite has enough room for you in it. So many thoughts and feelings in there that feel like they came from my own head. I can't even really express it. I didn't cry reading it but i sobbed when i closed it after i was done.

Tell us about a formative experience you've had

In high school we had this arts program where at the end of the year we did this big multi-discipline show where everybody got to do something, and senior year before the show i was doing some last minute checks before curtain and this very hot theatre chick yelled at me for something and i was just like "hey. don't speak to me like that. im doing attendance. whatever you're mad about is not about me." and she paused and was like "yeah. sorry. you're right." and it was the first time i had stood up to somebody i had a crush on and it worked and it literally changed the way i let people talk to me for the entire rest of my life. (also then she invited me to her graduation party and it was just her family and me and in retrospect im like damn maybe i had a shot there i didnt know how to take lol.)

Do you drink cider?

Not really no. It gives me heartburn and i get tired of the taste pretty quickly anyway. I'll have one here and there, but mostly I stick to beer, wine, and cocktails.

Okay this is more my speed. I love Jeff Buckley, and I love Bob Dylan songs sung by anybody who isn't Bob Dylan lol. (Honestly I like Bob Dylan too but his songs are so coverable). And lord knows Ive got somebody on my mind.

Have you ever thought of writing a collection of erotic short stories, à la Macho Sluts? I love your work and it would be great to have it compiled in a more permanent way than tumblr 🫶

First of all thank you! I really appreciate hearing that. But Honestly the only writing i have ever done is fanfiction, I don't really know how to even start thinking about original fiction. it sounds fun though. I do like writing smut. Maybe someday I'll get the urge 🤷
