33. Describe the character’s sense of humor. Do they appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?
Whether or not Cloud actually has a sense of humor is kinda debatable - after all, FFVII is entirely text-based, and there’s not much in the way of humor in it in the first place. Even in Advent Children, a lot of what might be considered Cloud’s more humorous side is deadpanned to the point of coming across as utterly sincere. It often takes some thought to determine whether it’s humor or not; and if it is, a lot of it is also insulting.
Still, I’ve always felt that Cloud has a very dry, rather sarcastic sense of humor that’s mostly kept to himself. General jokes are tolerated, as are the more painful puns. Gallows humor is closer to his style, but the other two aren’t. THat's not to say he won't ever ind them funny; they're simply not his type.
35. What moments in this character’s life have defined them as a person?
Well, that’s a long question. Uuuuh. I’m going to try to keep it short (and only the major events he actually had control over), but even so, this is going to be a list, because explaining them would take all day.
Going to Midgar; attacking Sephiroth in the Nibelheim Reactor, returning to Midgar with the Buster Sword. Then we have the relationship with Aerith, and the attempted crusade against Sephiroth; his reaction to being forced to attack Aeris; and entrusting a party member with the Black Materia. Cloud’s forgiveness of accidental betrayal of said party member; the recovry of his own memories, and the fight against Sephiroth.
59. How do they regard beliefs that differ from theirs? Are they tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?
As long as your beliefs don’t hurt others, Cloud doesn’t much care. But there aren’t really much in the way of religions where Cloud comes from, so he might be curious if the subject comes up. It could hlep him understand someone, and make friends with them.
