Ghu but I love this game so much.
Entry 692: The Elachi
Home World: Gamma Vertis IV
Occupation: Mysterious menaces of the week
First Appearance: "Silent Enemy” (ENT, 2002)
Summary: Silent, enigmatic, and dangerous, these beings go by many names among different cultures. "Elachi" is the term used by the Romulans, but others know them as the Mutes, the Vertians, the "Shroomies", or the Kovaalans. They utilize dampening fields to keep starships they find "interesting" silenced before moving in to attack. They tend to attack vessels that are isolated, often going out of their way to ensure their isolation by destroying nearby communications beacons before moving in to attack. Their motivations for attacking other ships remains unclear, as they have never been encountered by anyone who has not been the target of an attack. Recent re-analysis of scans taken by the NX-01 has suggested that the Elachi are a sentient fungus, though the truth of this is inconclusive. Fortunately, they have not been recorded as having encountered humans or Vulcans since the 2150s, when they menaced the NX-01 Enterprise. However, these records do not include those countless starships that have gone completely missing over the years, lost forever with all hands...
