Elaine Radigue - Triptych
In 1978, the drone legend Elaine Radigue released Triptych after three years of silence. According to a Pitchfork article this was due to a hiatus dedicated to buddhism. And perhaps it is through buddhism Elaine Radigue has acquired the patience required to compose true drone music.
Triptych is, of course, composed and performed on the magnificent ARP 2500. However, as with all of Elaine’s work, Triptych is not a demo of the capabilities of the ARP 2500. It is music meant to be listened to, music meant to completely engulf your full senses and have you gently detach from the material world, floating away over an ocean of somber sound waves.
