this is a bit short and idk if it’s what you expected but HERE IT IS also sorry it took me almost 24 hours

“WHAT!?” Elain heard Nesta’s yell from across the apartment. She ran into the kitchen, the source of the shout, to find Nesta, wearing an incredulous expression, facing Azriel, looking sheepish.
“What?” Elain said, panting a bit from the exertion and her elevated heart rate due to the...odd scene unfolding.
Nesta pointed a finger at Az, turned to Elain, and practically screamed, “YOUR BOYFRIEND DOESN’T LIKE DESSERT FOOD!”
Elain felt her eyes narrow and her brows crease. What? She felt a presence join her and realized it was Lucien.
“What’s going on?” the recent addition inquired.
“YOUR BOYFRIEND DOESN’T LIKE DESSERT FOOD, LUCIEN. He’s ‘not a dessert person.’ His words.” Nesta looked absolutely enraged. Maybe it was because she had been giving Azriel cupcakes and cookies for the past few years for his birthday.
“Azriel.” Lucien regarded the Illyrian seriously. “Do you hate happiness?”
“Guys, c’mon.” Azriel crossed his arms. “I think you’re making too big a deal out of this.”
“I don’t think I can even look at you right now, Az,” Elain said, shaking her head.
“El--” “How do you live with yourself, babe?” Lucien asked of the bat. “I mean, really. You don’t like cake? Or cookies? Or ice cream?”
“Well ice cream’s okay, I gue--” Azriel was cut off by Elain’s finger pressed against his lips, shushing him. He blinked at her.
“’Okay’?” she whispered.
“I’m going to go find Cassian. I’ll leave you guys be.” Nesta quickly scurried out, squeezing Elain’s hand on the way. Elain’s gaze never wavered from Azriel’s and he began to get a bit nervous.
“Ice cream,” she continued, “is far more than ‘okay.’ Ice cream is the greatest thing to exist in this world.”
“I second that,” Lucien called out. Azriel scowled at him.
Then Elain realized something. She quirked her lips up and regarded Azriel with a gleam in her eye.
“I can think of a way to make you truly appreciate the glory of ice cream.” She turned to Lucien. “Can you grab it from the freezer?” She winked and he smirked. Lucien strode towards the ice box and grabbed the ice cream located within.
“Oooh, mint!” he said with a grin on his face.
“Perfect,” Elain replied, turning back towards her Illyrian. She offered her hand to him and he took it, a bit hesitantly.
“What are you going to do to me, Elain?” he murmured. She drew him closer and whispered in his ear, “You’ll see,” and led him out of the kitchen, towards their bedroom.
Lucien followed quickly after.

I love Lucien, but let’s be serious: Sarah did not go through all that trouble to let us know that just because you’re mated doesn’t mean you’re right for each other to not give us at least ONE pairing where that’s the case.
