“𝘐 𝘨𝘰𝘵𝘵𝘢 𝘴𝘢𝘺 𝘪𝘵, 𝘋, 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴... 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘺 𝘣𝘢𝘥.”
Slaying beasts was the hunter’s forte, but rarely was he left to deal with the aftermath. Rarer still was it that so many innocents were injured in the process... though D had only been able to show his face and put down the beast after most of these injuries occurred, from the looks of things. There were no structures around to have taken any damage, for better or worse; were these people also travelers or hunters of some sort? Maybe it meant there was civilization nearby... D found himself in an unfamiliar land once again, and by then knew well enough it was all he could do to seek the aid of locals.
“𝘖𝘩? 𝘈𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘫𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘥? 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶.”
Indeed, D’s steps drew him away from the beast corpses and back towards a lonely copse of trees—where the injured had been carried or dragged to be further treated. The dhampir had his priorities, but his eyes yet lingered across prone bodies wracked with pained groans and uncomfortable shifting. He hadn’t a scratch on him from the short-lived battle, but it took only a glance to notice the devastation wrought by the massive claws those creatures possessed. The dhampir’s eyes drifted away from the wounded and to those few tending them... and the massive cleric that sat hunched over one such victim.
“𝙃𝙚𝙮.“ A voice like D’s, but not his at all, in the end, spoke up as the hunter neared. “𝙏𝙝𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙨, 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮? 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙚𝙭𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙡𝙮 𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚?”
D remained silent as the left hand, just barely muffled by his cloak, spoke for him. His best chances were to ingratiate himself with whoever was able to assist him and, judging by the way this learned healer had taken charge of the wounded... in any case, D’s normal taciturnity would only work against him, and both he and the creature within his left hand knew as much.
