4, 13, 18! (one for each oc group <3)
Thank you so much <3 I hope you don’t mind, but the post started getting really long, and every response I tried to write for question 18 didn’t come out the way I wanted, so I’m going to skip the last question. But 4 & 13 really helped me flesh out my Gardiennes and Scholars, so <3333
4. Does your [Gardienne] have any tattoos? Would they like any?Of what?
So I made a post compiling images of all their tattoos (I am in love with tats, so everyone has one, lmao). Here’s just little summaries of background info.
Alani got her first tattoo with her mom when shewas 16. She’d been pleading her case with her parents for months, and her momfinally convinced her dad that Alani knew what she was getting into (and shewanted to get one too <3). It’s a black and gray tree on her left forearm. Her second tattoo was done after the car accident that killed her parents and brother. She gets it right before she comes to Eldarya. The words are: “I carryyour heart. I carry it in my heart.” In between the sentences are a dandelionand three birds.
Lorelei always wanted tattoos, but she was neverallowed to get them. Even after she turned 18, she continued to live at home, andher mother was very strict. Once she gets to Eldarya and settles into a newlife, she finds an artist and gets a bunch (out of both desire and spite). Allof them are watercolor. Her first is a mermaid on her right forearm, the secondis moon phases down the outside of her left thigh, and the third is a big dragonflyon her upper back. When she uses her magic, they glow.
Thea finds tattoos very attractive, but shenever had a really pressing desire to get one. Her friend ends up begging herto come when he gets a tattoo, so she goes for emotional support. But she findsherself really loving a piece of flower art on display and getting it on her leftshoulder. It’s the only tattoo she has right now, but she’s planning onextending it down her arm as a sleeve.
Keiko was too afraid to get tattoos for the longest time. She would look up tats onPinterest and admire them on other people, but the needles freaked her out somuch and she was convinced she had too low of a pain tolerance. Eventually, though, her [Earth] girlfriend convinces her to get her first one, a very smallblue heart on the outside of her right index finger. After that, her exactwords are “I AM GOING TO GET SEVENTY OF THEM.” In actuality, she gets two more:a blue bird on her left shoulder (front), and a black cat sitting on a treebranch with a blue-outlined moon on her right shoulder (back).
Nadya is into big pieces. Her first and only tattoo (for now) is a chest andsternum piece! She’s had an obsession with bees since she was little (she wasdetermined to be a bee keeper). So her tattoo starts with a honeycomb patternover her collarbone/chest, decorated with flowers and mushrooms and beetles. And then dotted lines connect it to a bee under/between her breasts. (It’s allblack!) She’s really fond of it!
13. What is the most prominent thing that comes to mind whenyour [Scholar] thinks about their parent’s relationship? If they had only tolearn one thing from their parent’s relationship, what would it be?
Since AJ can remember, her idea of a marriagehas been two people staying together out of necessity. Norms include screamingat each other, affectionate names such as “cabron” and “bestia,” and latenights out of the house to get away from each other. Her parents’ marriage endedin a divorce, so AJ has learned that relationships involve much more heartachethan they’re probably worth.
Karma’s parents always seemed to have a mutedsort of relationship. Expressions of love and affection were restricted toprivate moments. The most Karma and her sister got to see from them growing upwas brief hand/shoulder touches and soft smiles across the room. Karma lovesher parents, but their expression of love never sat well with her. She learnedthat it can result in feelings of uncertainty and low self-worth, and Karmanever wants that in her relationships.
Dawn’s parents fell madly in love and stayedthat way. She grew up in a house filled with the sappiest kind of affection. They still call each other sweet names, spend all day out on their anniversary, and hold hands when they walk in town. Dawn has learned that the best kind ofrelationship is with people who never stop treating each other like they’re themost important part of their world.
When Zoe thinks of her mothers’ relationship, she never stops marveling at how much workthey put into it. Her parents have very busy schedules, but they make timeto have dinner with Zoe every night, and go out together at least once everyweekend. Disagreements are always talkedthrough, and anniversaries/birthdays are never forgotten. She’s learned thatrelationships take a ridiculous amount of effort, but give the best rewards.
Patrick’s mother died when he was eleven. Hisfather has gotten fairly good at hiding his grief, but Patrick knows it’s stillthere. From his parents’ relationship, he learned that love never leaves you.It can hurt you just as much as it can bring you joy, and it can weigh you downjust as much as it can uplift you. It’s a mess of contradictions, and it honestlyleaves Patrick with a lot of uneasiness when he thinks about it eventuallyplaying a role in his life.
