Because of their size and those instances when the other partner doesn’t have a tail, it can be difficult for a Torao to determine whether the partner is worth bonding with (like I said, very fixed way of thinking and no one has made a new “ritual” to fix this). On those very rare occasions where the ritual is completed, the Torao is not heard from again. This is not because they are ostracized by their society, but because not many/none of the bonded species are agreeable to the means of their partners having sex with someone else for a child, and so leave with them to live somewhere else. These couples are most likely to adopt outside of both of their species. The Torao also have no technology among their people, so the bonded mate would have to resign themselves to living on Ekkunar with no means of talking to their family or friends ever again, as well as giving up their jobs and businesses.
