@nimbose and I were talking last night about the fact that really, even though he has the anchor, Ahumai is NOT cut out to lead the Inquisition. He’s not built to be a leader, and he’d crumble under the stress if not for Ellie being there. At first we thought, maybe it ends up being both of them leading the Inquisition together, even though it’s only Ahu with the mark. But Nimbose made the suggestion, and I really like it, that Ellie be made Inquisitor, while Ahu remain as the Herald. They lead together, but Ellie is much better suited to take the head of it- he was/is Keeper’s First within their clan, he already had the backbone and building blocks of being a leader. It would be a much more solid decision. Although you know some folks wanna fight it, ‘he’s only Inquisitor because he’s married to the Herald!’ Really, Ellie’s response to that is mostly, 'your just don’t like the idea of being led by en elf.’ He knows EXACTLY what’s up.
When Ellie found out about the explosion at the conclave, that everyone there had died, he broke down. Ahu had been there. Gentle, kind, wonderful Ahu, his bondmate, his best friend. Now he was gone, he thought. There was a slim chance, maybe, that Ahu hadn't been there. That he had left. That he hadn't made it yet. Maybe he was with the refugees. Ellie hoped. He knew it was unlikely, but he hoped. And if he wasn't, he'd try and find...something. part of him. Something to bring back for himself and the clan to mourn. He felt sick thinking about it. When he set out for Haven, he'd begun to feel numb. Numb enough to make the trek. He wondered how he'd even look for him...Ahu had been a shape-shifter. If he was in a small shape...there would be nothing. And how could he even ask, if he was with the refugees. The only thing he could do was go and look.
I realize I haven't really got any decent artwork of Ellie...and this boy is perfect...I love him @nimbose said it looks like Ahu is watching him, sneaking look at him and being terrifically smitten. And that sounds....about right
