Politics - Why I think people didn't vote
Politics – Why I think people didn’t vote
So the nation has apparently had their say, but have we really?
In the run up to the elections, I wrote a post for the universities online paper about the changes in the way students register to vote and as part of this spoke to many students about the whole election process. The overall opinion I got was that they didn’t understand politics and as they didn’t understand, they wouldn’t be voting.

Quick thoughts on Current Politics
While Harper was PM, it was politically useful for opponents to ascribe all policy to him; indeed, he cultivated that (“the Harper government”). It hid the body of Conservative support somewhat, which helped focus opposition. However, now that he’s resigned, it strikes me as much more useful to talk about those same policies as Conservative party policies instead: raise the profiles on the…

Don't Be One of the Imbeciles and Misetes of America
The Imbeciles and Misetes of America #GrowUp #Election2016
I swore I wasn’t going to write any posts on the post election, but here it goes anyway. Let me first put this forward: I am not a Trump supporter, nor am I a Clinton supporter.
Don’t Be So Shocked
Everywhere we look in the post election front there are two extremes, overjoyed and hateful.
I see people I have known for years spouting off that all Trump supporters are bigots, misogynists and…

Cant't believe this is what America has come to. Deeply rooted hatred and racism has shown its true colors this election.
If you live in Florida, Indiana, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina and Pennsylvania read this
These states all have very close races for Senate seats. The Democrats need a net gain of four seats in the Senate to flip the majority.
This could be a big deal. If you hate the way things are going in this country, you gotta get rid of this GOP majority House and Senate... they’re killing us. I know the presidential race is all anyone is talking about, but we can make a difference in other ways too.
Remember Bernie Sanders? That dude that wants higher minimum wage, free college, and for the wealthy elite to pay their fair share?
Right now Paul Ryan is trying to scare conservatives by pointing out that if Democrats flip the Senate, Bernie Sanders will be Chairman of the Budget Committee.
Imagine their horror! But how great would that be?
I know that faith in government and political parties is at an all time low right now. It seems like nothing ever changes, except when it gets worse. For so many young people, all you’ve ever known of government is gridlock and rancor. But, if we can get some of these rightwing nutjobs voted out, if we can keep engaged in the process and get our butts to the polls November 8, if we can get Hillary elected with a friendlier Congress... things can start to change. I believe that.
Anyway, if you could reblog this and help get the word out about how important this election is, that would be wonderful.
