The elections in Flanders went horribly last Sunday. Fascism is rising and I hold my girlfriend closer than ever that night, afraid that our love will become a form of rebellion once again.
Friends of colour tell me horrible stories of the last days of people that feel strengthened in their racism because of the extreme right party. They’re not hiding their discrimination any longer and people’s lives are in danger.
I went from sad to desperate to angry. My community and I, we are preparing. To take care of each other and go yelling in the streets that this is not right.
