Disney Channel UK Returning After 5 Years Of Shut-Down?

We're tuned up and right on track, baby, we're back!

Digital Spy, a UK forum for all things UK cable and satellite has discovered that Sky is testing a new kids channel that is potentially the return of Disney Channel UK slated to launch in October 3, 2025 (5 years after the shutdown of the network)

The testing includes Big City Greens as the first show for the return with other shows ‘Miraculous Ladybug’, ‘Wizards Beyond Waverly Place’, "Primos" and ‘Hamster & Gretel’ set for the relaunch.

Disney Channel, Disney XD and Disney Junior UK all closed down in October 2020 in favor of migrating over to Disney+ however in recent years things have changed as The Walt Disney Company has stated that will remain on the TV Channel Business with Bob Iger stating that Disney is unlikely to follow Comcast and Warner Bros. Discovery in exiting the TV Channel Business.

Back in June 2025, Iger mentioned Disney Channel as one of the biggest examples of more value in a broadcast network, again, if it’s paired very, very seamlessly with a streaming busines

And now when you think about all four, and we also have Nat Geo, which does the same with Disney Plus, when you think about those five networks and how they’re programmed across linear and streaming, you’ve got a business that actually provides us an opportunity to not only grow, but to grow margins in the process as well.
