Oh, she knew she wasn't suppose to. Safety and protocol and something, something...dangerous specimen...
Yet, Elesa couldn't ignore the temptation any longer. Especially when they'd curiously be staring at her. In a way, like she felt they might have been trying to reach her in some manner without even speaking.
Hand pressed against the surface of the 3-layered tempered glass between them as her fingers spread.
"D....o...do you want to meet me up close?"
What a silly question to ask. They wouldn't understand her, right? Much like she wouldn't dare to entertain such a notion that was just being conjured up in her own head. Right?
Still, she found herself climbing up the ladder on the far side of the tank after making sure no one was around. Just the silent humming of other machinery and the surface of the water that looked deathly still.
'This better be worth it...worse case scenario they EAT
this hand of yours or worse.'
She thought crouching down on the low platform after rolling up her sleeve. Fingers halting feeling the chill of the water that briefly disturbed the surface water before her fingers broke the surface with her hand following suit.
It was the darker of the pair of mers that was watching her first, seemingly in confusion. He was the one they'd given the name Ingo too and he wasn't really swimming in tank once he'd noticed her from the other end. Honestly he'd been about to pass her off as just another human gawking at them before he noticed something strange. Like, what was on her head. It was a different head covering than the ones normally seen and he couldn't make heads nor tails of it. So he'd swum closer to get a better look but was still confused.
Naturally this drew his much more curious lighter colored brother, Emmet, out of the artificial cave the pair were given to hide in. Now it wasn't a secret the pair could communicate with each other though it was definitely in a vocalization closer to that of dolphins and it seemed they were discussing the woman before them. When they heard her speak Emmet seemed to perk up cause she sounded more pleasant than some of the humans to speak to them when they were being curious. Seeing her place her hand against the glass makes the smiling brother place his own against it as a mirror. Was he actually communicating with her or was he just parroting her movements, it wasn't really clear.
So the pair watch as she goes to where the ladder to their tank is and watch her climb up to the ledge that leads to the edge of the water. Strange. Normally the humans were too afraid to approach alone, let alone this late at night. Actually she might be the first person they've seen at this hour. More curiosities to add to the pile. Oh make that another. The mers watch as the woman gets to the ledge and kneels down to put her hand in the water. No one had done that before and it caused the brothers to swim up to the surface and look up at her in confusion and for Ingo, a bit of distrust. However it was immediately replaced by surprise when Emmet just swims right up to her hand and takes it in his own to investigate. Ingo naturally follows his twin brother over but doesn't dare touch her but is watching.
Then Emmet decided to try and get a better look, pulling her fully into the tank and below the surface. He continued to hold her hand and pulled her around to try and learn more. Ingo was watching this all cautiously and had his head tilted because this was definitely not the first human to enter their tank but most of the time they had these weird things on their back and bubbles came from them. Bubbles were certainly coming from her but not the same way.
