OK BUT YES
Turing's Tea - No Hero
Well, I messed up on this one. It was actually closer to the style of Jimi Hendrix's "Red House" but I thought it was in the style of B. B. King's "Rock Me Baby." So I wrote up a simple song about J. Jonah Jameson, and when we went to practice it the first time, it was a disaster (for all of 2 minutes). Afterwards, we realized we had a new song, and we could kick "Rock Me Baby" out of rotation. Yay for originality.
Of course, I wanted the other musicians to come up with some kind of riff or melody to lay on top of the rhythm, but that was apparently asking too much. Boo for originality. In the end, our version was much like this version. The first organ solo was actually my guitar solo from "Rock Me Baby," and the second was created out of my need to not play the same chord pattern for 5 minutes straight.
On a side note, I actually wanted to record the first solo on guitar, but came to realize that my lack of experience and knowledge in soloing actually made it really hard to get a decent recording down. After five or six tries (and hours of researching and post-processing), I eventually said, "Fuck it," and just slapped the MIDI file on my keyboard and added an arpeggio.
Lyrics:
NO HERO (Adicus Ryan Garton) He got some medals on his jacket, he's a hero But his head is full of static, he's no hero Spare the rod, spoil the child, keeps me on the straight and narrow He's no hero Some of us work every day of the week Others come home to prey on the meek He's no hero
He got the whole city caught in his webbing, he's a hero But I remember the crimes they're forgetting, he's no hero Murdered that girl, and he murdered her father (He got away with it) Empire State-sized ego He's no hero Some of us work every day of the week Others are just capes and masks and freaks You wanna know what a coward is worth, I'm no hero No fear of blood or bullets, I'm a hero! Not a photo, not even a letter, she died while I was in Korea I'm no hero Some of us work every day of the week Just to forget the blush on her cheeks I'm no hero You're no hero He's no hero No one's a hero
