This album is genius, just looking at the title could give you an idea of the types of sounds you'll hear within the record. But a lot more grittier and dark, like a synth that has been smashed down to the lowest octave possible.
1 For Willy is mine and all my house-mates favourite, personally it just works in every day environments. Listening as I type, the organ-like screeching over the top probably doesn't fit to well to. The record's title doesn't fit perfectly though; the album is eclectic and so is this one song. The start sounding like a broken/slowed down sega dreamcast, played through a tube-amp in a rackety old church (that's a positive by the way).
I like the way he has taken a theme (video games etc) and stuck with it and laid down an album of good quality, the theme heard throughout which would have been his goal at the start. In every song there are remnants of video game sounds or the sound of a console etcetera. A lot of the songs are more like beats or instrumentals in which rap could be placed over the top of the song but weirdly he chose not to; his decision has paid off hugely with the best production I’ve heard in a while.
Jon Wayne is doing a lot and has done a lot, releasing so much unknown music every year, he raps and produces mega-amounts of music, his boiler room in LA is a good starting point to view his rapping and mixing talents and this song embraces his production technique to a tee.
