Jack Garratt - Water

Two months ago, British electronic R&B singer Jack Garratt released a delicate break-up song, 'I Couldn't Want You Anyway', that showcased his feathery falsettoes amidst a jazzy piano riff. He returns with a new single 'Water', that veers in a different direction than his previous release, as he opts to project a smoother yet more powerful voice in the veins of Movement and Barnaby. There is much to like here between Garratt's vocals, a hypnotic guitar riff that plays throughout the song, delicate piano notes that feel like drops of water, and a thumping bassline that eventually punches through on the track. Yet the highest point of "Water" is an oscillating sound that creates the atmosphere of being underwater and contrasts well with the softer parts of the track. If you haven't given Garratt a listen, he's certainly worth a play.

Movement - Ivory

With their debut EP (listen to their previous release 'Like Lust') set to drop in 2 weeks , Australian R&B trio Movement, drops yet another bombshell with their new single 'Ivory'. The track starts with an eerie, oscillating bassline that sets the tone for the rest of the song until it is joined by lead singer Lewis Wade's breathy voice, which is accompanied by gasps of breath (moreso than even 'Us') that allude to the sexual nature of the song. A hypnotic piano melody is added at the chorus to compliment Wade's effortlessly strong vocals. Topping off the song's outro is a brilliant Prince-esque guitar solo, complete with finger-tapping and bright 80s crunch.

Movement - Like Lust (Live)

Here's proof that we don't just post about British bands. Australian electronic R&B trio Movement has only released 3 songs...but boy, have those songs been top quality. Having received much critical acclaim (all three releases have been named a Pitchfork "Best New Track") and the opportunities to tour with Darkside,Solange, and Flight Facilities, Movement is clearly gaining well-deserved recognition. Movement is able to create profoundly sensual music through artful manipulation of synths, drum beats, and vocal looping. All of these elements are tied together by the caramel-smooth voice of classically-trained lead singer Lewis Wade; imagine a deeper, more forceful James Blake. 'Like Lust' has been floating around the internet for about a month now, but is a song, despite its repetitive vocal riff, one would be hard-pressed to grow tired of. The Modular Sessions version, which more prominently features Wade's unparalleled voice, is absoutely breathtaking and makes them a "must-see-live" band in my eyes. Raleigh Ritchie - Stay Inside (The Internet Remix)

British singer/songwriter/actor (the ultimate warrior from Game of Thrones) Jacob Anderson, better known under his moniker Raleigh Ritchie, already has two EPs under his belt. His latest, the Black and Blue EP, has been recently remixed by the Odd Future collaborators The Internet. On "Stay Inside," the Internet add a mellow, jazzy piano riff that perfectly complements Raleigh Ritchie's deep, soulful baritone of a voice. Fans of MNEK, Kwes, and Sam Smith may want to keep an eye out for Raleigh Ritchie. The Black and Blue EP Point 2 is worth a listen. Check out "Stay Inside" below:

Oceaán - Basement

The youth revolution continues in the UK with 20 year old  Oceaán bursting onto the scene with the release of his debut self-titled EP at the end of March. Dazzling listeners with unique beats and production and a mellifluous voice that feels like a warm blanket enveloping your auditory nerves, Oceaán does not disappoint with any song on the 6-track EP. 'Basement' shows off his keen ear for rhythm and melodies, as he does his best Jai Paul impression in the process through JP's trademark fading in-and-out of the track; some parts of the song sound straight outta 'Str8 Outta Mumbai' (Hehe...get it? I apologize for nothing). This man deserves your attention if you're late to the Oceaán party. Check it out below:
