BASEMENT JAXX - NEVER SAY NEVER (FT. ETML)
The first official single from the forthcoming album “Junto”, Basement Jaxx present “Never Say Never” featuring South London school-leaver sensation ETML.
Fantastic new single from Basement Jaxx that propels itself ever so lightly over fellow UKer ETML's vocals. Be sure to also check out the Mark Knight remix that jacks up the track into a house beat thats perfect for summer.

Bleachers - I Wanna Get Better (RAC Remix)
Jack Antonoff, lead guitarist from not so indie anymore pop band fun., started a new side project called Bleachers while on tour last year. The reliable RAC has come out with a remix to the first single, 'I Wanna Get Better'. RAC mutes the jumping piano from the original, and adds some more synth bleeding smooth guitars to give the track a more alt rock feel. It's probably one the catchiest songs to come out thus far in 2014.
Architecture In Helsinki - I Might Survive (Goldroom Remix)
L.A. producer Goldroom has been on an absolute tear lately. Following his remix of Hurricane by MS MR and of Wunder Wunder's Coastline (which has some excellent percussion by the way), Goldroom remixes the Australian band Architecture In Helsinki's latest single I Might Survive. Goldroom applies his usual sun kissed touch here but manages to make his remix miles better than the original. Taking the made for a TV commercial early 00's pop song vocals of the original and allowing them to breathe a little and adding a synth buildup that borders on utter euphoria makes this remix another fantastic standout in Goldroom's repetoire. Listen below and watch the just released video for his original track Embrace.
Phoria - Emanate (Tom Gillieron Remix)
UK indie pop group Phoria look to capitalize on increasing success following their 2013 EP release Bloodworks by releasing singles that will be featured on their new EP Display, due out in mid-June. Their lead single 'Emanate' has been well-received, due to a killer combination of breathy, James Blake-ian vocals over a Bearcubs-like beat and a looped vocal melody. British producer Tom Gillieron retains much of the original elements of the song while adding more upbeat percussion to emulate a more plush rendition. The song calmly builds until ascending into a swirl of synths and haunting vocal backdrops. This is a band to certainly keep on your radar. Stream below:
Bok Bok - Da Foxtrot
It's hard to describe UK producer Bok Bok and his label, Night Slugs. They fall under the strain of UK Bass but what that tends to mean nowadays is anything future forward thinking (if it doesn't hit the charts that is). 'Da Foxtrot', off his upcoming EP Your Charizmatic Self, follows closely in the vein of his two previous releases Melba's Call and Howard, with percussion that clatters in and out of space, with a start-stop jittery beat, with thumping sub woofer rattling bass hits, with synths that remind you of a 80's TV show that sound campy, funky, and a little paranoid all at once. It seems like a lot, but Bok Bok makes it flow effortlessly and you can tell that using past elements to warp and creating a new future sound that can played in bedroom and club equally is Bok Bok's strongest feature.
Little Daylight - Love Stories
Brooklyn synth-pop trio, Little Daylight, has released 'Love Stories', a new single from their upcoming debut album Hello Memory. Sounding like a cross between Say Lou Lou and MS MR and full of moody lyrics, glimmering summery synths and bombastic drums, 'Love Stories' is a welcome addition to the new wave of indie synth pop.
The Pains of Being Pure at Heart - Until The Sun Explodes
The Pains of Being Pure at Heart have released their third album, Days of Abandon. Contrary to their previous albums, which could be described as shoegaze pop influenced by The Cure, Days of Abandon is less fuzzed out guitars and more indie pop jangle. 'Until the Sun Explodes' is a great cut off the LP portraying their version of 80's sugar rush, all set to a Hanna-Barbera like cartoon of the band rocking out in outer space in the music video. We just wish the song, barely clocking in at at over two minutes, was just a tad bit longer..Be sure to check out the rest of the excellent album
Bearcubs x Tom Misch - Colours of Freedom
British producer Jack Ritchie, operating under the moniker Bearcubs, teams up with fellow Brit Tom Misch to produce a stunning, soulful track of a gent yearning to be released from the shackles of a lover. Misch may only be 18 years old, but he is already carving out a distinct niche in London's electro-soul scene, marrying his Raleigh Ritchie/Will Heard vocals with jazzy, J-Dilla style beats. Bearcubs has forever impressed with his one-of-a-kind percussion that he typically combines with a bouncy synth, as evidenced in his bootleg of Gorgon City's track 'Ready For Your Love'. What is so impressive about Colours of Freedom is that while the two artists have unique musical approaches, they are able to blend their styles so effortlessly, being careful not to overshadow the other's in a true collaboration. Catchy piano chords, smooth vocals, and chill yet funky bass...a perfect song for a rainy day. Check it out below
Jess Glynne - Right Here
Jess Glynne may be a relative newcomer on the scene but she has quickly established herself as a bonafide star. After her first two features, Route 94's 'My Love' and Clean Bandit's 'Rather Be', went straight to number one on the UK charts, Glynne is now focusing on her own solo material. Fellow UK act Gorgon City provides the production on this one, with the now standard UK commercial house sounds of bouncy synths and reverbed bass that's been taking over, and even throws in some sax horns for good measure - the popular pop sound of the moment; Glynne, of course, dutifully provides the vocals. Wouldn't surprise us at all if this as well hits the charts soon.
TĀLĀ - Serbia
London producer/singer of Iranian descent, TĀLĀ, has released a music video for her single 'Serbia' off of her upcoming EP The Duchess. Dark, heavy drums and warped cinematic tribal sounds start off the track intro for about thirty seconds before some electronic synths and TĀLĀ's voice take over for for the rest. The video does not have anything to do with Serbia (she said in a Fader interview that the title alluded to A Serbian Film) but documents a recent trip of her's to Marrakech, heavily using news footage effects to depict the local culture.
Ekkah - Figure It Out
Here is 'Figure It Out' from the new UK duo, Ekkah, consisting of Rebbeca and Rebekah. The 'Figure It Out' jazz-funk bassline and R&B vocals are super smooth; closely channeling their inner fellow UK contemporaries Sade and Jessie Ware.
Classixx - A Stranger Love (Salva Remix)
L.A. trap producer Salva, usually known for his rap remixes, goes a different route and remixes synthpop duo Classixx single, 'A Stranger Love', from their 2013 album Hanging Gardens. Salva gives it a bassy and upbeat playful touch while warping Sarah Chernoff's breezy vocals from the original. Listen below and also check out the original's recently released video. (Actually check out the the entirety of Hanging Gardens, which was one of the best and most underrated albums of last year.)
KilI J - Bullet (Oceaán remix)
Two weeks ago, Denmark electro pop duo Kill J remixed British producer/electronic newcomer Oceaán's stunning single 'To Lose'. Well, I guess the "tit for tat" mantra rings true in the music community because Oceaán took it upon himself to remix Kill J's 'Bullet', stripping it of the Lorde vibes and instilling his unique production style. He accomplishes through laying a tribal beat in the background, over which he layers an ominous synth sound and throws in random screams and whiplashes intermittently for good measure. While labelled as a remix, I would say it's more of a cover as Oceaán throws his silky James Blake-an voice on the track, as if to offer a male version of the original.
J. Tropic - Love Up
British R&B newcomer J.Tropic's first release, 'Love Up', couldn't come at a better time as it just makes you want to open the sunroof, rev up the engine, and soak in the summery weather. There's a lot to like here: J. Tropic's breathy yet powerful vocals, the addicting tropical synths, a thumping bass that holds its own throughout the song. She may have only nineteen followers on Soundcloud, but if she continues to release tracks like this, it won't be long before J. Tropic becomes a common name in the music world. Check out the track below.
Leon Vynehall - Music for the Uninvited [EP]
UK house producer Leon Vynehall recently released his mini album/EP Music for the Uninvited. The whole thing is styled to be heard in one play through; it's Vynehall's homage to when he listened hip hop and funk cassette tapes (remember these?) in the car with his mother, and he even has the old tape play and rewind samples throughout to give us the same experience. Through six tracks Vynehall weaves in downtempo jazz-esque sounds with jackin house and analogue ambient soundscapes. Opener 'Inside the Deku Tree' takes its influences from the legendary N64 video game Zelda and is a wonderful symphonic orchestral track. 'It's Just (House of Dupree)' will get the dance floor moving with it's house vibes filled with well placed vocal samples and skittering warm percussion. Music for the Uninvited is some of the best music to come out at all this year in any genre. Vynehall has created a mini-masterpiece and it's well worth the listen. The whole EP is streaming at SPIN.
