Liverpudlian trio Stealing Sheep aren’t here to steal our mutton or wool like cunning wolves. They’re really here to steal our hearts and move our feet with their quirky blend of glitchy fidgeting electronica and neon pop on foxy swinging new song, Joking Me. The three piece band fascinates with sharply jostling beats and slickly enchanting synths on their brisk capering, whimsically cavorting single, which arrives by way of a colorful video.  Commenting on both, the band say: “Both the song and the video speak a lot about today’s modern culture and how things seem throwaway: love, communication, revealing the disappointments and let downs but also the ephemeral of the delete, trash, emoji digital world. The way you can put up a front on social media, cultivate an imagined life, your best life. We teamed up with 8bit video artist Pastel Castle (Emily Garner) from Leeds, who created Stealing Sheep avatars, we became pixelated superheroes in an over saturated and glitchy platform. It sets the scene for a full series of karaoke videos to be released alongside the album exploring Stealing Sheep in a digital dimension, shifting identities amidst changing cultural moods and millennial paraphernalia. NYC artist and producer Amanda Steckler sure took her time to release a new single as Blonde Maze. It’s been nearly a year since we last indulged in new music from the pop visionary, but she’s finally returned as of late with a gorgeous and finespun gem named Thunder. Unlike what the stormy song title might suggest, this is a nimble and celestial pop and electronica hybrid with elegant harmonies, breezy marimbas, and refined keys. We’re brought to an island paradise where we find ourselves waxing bittersweet over distant regrets and receding heartbreak alongside Blonde Maze, all the while gazing towards the future through rose colored glasses. The lush aria has reminded people of Lapsley, Maggie Rogers, and The Japanese House. It also sports a dance ready but light and delicate Balearic groove. I never thought I’d see the day when Slow Magic and Kate Boy would end up on the same track, so Mind is pretty much a dream come true for this devout fan of both the masked producer and the Swedish/Australian synthpop project. We haven’t heard from either of them in quite some time, yet here they are, dishing out energetic thrumming vibes on Mind. Slow Magic showcases his visionary brilliance on the icy glistening, swift shimmering electronic aria, whose other worldly beauty and rich glacial consistency is the perfect scenery for Kate Boy’s bewitching Scandi-pop vocals. Mind fills me with wonder on this cold spring morning. It seems to break us free of all things mundane and push us up towards the stars. Anything seems possible, all of a sudden.
