First-line prompt ! [ As s/he stopped to catch his/her breath, s/he looked back … ]
As he stopped to catch his breath, he looked back with peripatetic eyes wondering just where the bloody hell in Seoul his wandering feet leaded him to. Having been too preoccupied on not being apprehended by three overly large, delinquent looking men it did not matter where he would find himself as long as his legs did not give out mid-run. The quiet streets felt familiar to him, yet they felt unfamiliar at the same time-- Was he away from the city for that long to have his mind clouded in a daze? He could not help but wonder if his half year exploration elsewhere took a toll on his edietic memory.
A series of painful coughs erupted from the back of his dry throat, causing the poor consulting detective to clutch at his chest in agony. “God fucking damn it,” he huffed out in a struggle, crouching over his knees as he attempted to alleviate the burn in his lungs. Perhaps the last pack of cigarettes he smoked prior to being unexpectedly chased was not so much of a good idea. He made a mental note to himself to forcibly revert back to the nicotine patches; this was not something he would ever want to experience again.
Surprisingly enough, it only took the twenty-six year old three long and deep breaths, in through his nose and out through his mouth, to finally come sooth the pain away. During that time several thoughts ran through his mind, hoping to make some sort of sense as to why he was being followed though it was not too abstruse for him to understand why. Woobin knew too much. He was threat to their society much as they were to his. It would only be a matter of time before one would eliminate the other.
emotion [ self-conscious ]
Seldom does the consulting detective ever feel an emotion such as the one he was currently feeling. Never under any circumstances did he feel immoderate awareness of himself in the public eye; whether it be in his actions or appearance. So it was a foreign experience for him to feel so self-conscious.
For once in his life, he felt vulnerable and unkempt in front of the general masses... and he did not enjoy it-- not in the slightest bit. Balling up his hand into a fist, he cleared his throat with a pardoning cough. "If you will please excuse me..."
Here’s a list of questions that seem easy to answer, but could require a bit more thought! Think of these as chiseling the finer details on your already built muse.
What is your character’s name? Does the character have a nickname? His given birth name was Kim Hyun Joong. However, during his universities days at Jeonju University, he legally changed his name to Kim Woo Bin to distinguish himself as a consulting detective. While he has a plethora of nicknames, he prefers to be addressed by the name of "Woobin".
What is your character’s hair color? Eye color? Woobin currently has chestnut brown hair and chocolate brown eyes.
What kind of distinguishing facial features does your character have? Upon first glance, some distinguishing facial features Woobin has would be his keen eyes, impressively arched eyebrows and his signature smirk.
Does your character have a birthmark? Where is it? What about scars? How did they get them? Woobin has quite a few birthmarks scattered throughout his body, though they are faint and barely noticeable to the untrained eye. You'd only see them if you're within intimate proximity. As for scars, he has obtained a several of them throughout his twenty-five years of living. He has a small scar on his left eyebrow and a faint scar on his right shin from an accident in his younger years. The consulting detective also has a couple of scars on both his arms and hands that he had obtained while working in the field.
Who are your characters friends and family? Who do they surround themselves with? Who are the people your character is closest to? Who do they wish they were closest to? As an only child, his family primarily consist of his father, his mother, and himself. As for friends, well... he doesn't have many of those as they never seem to stay for very long or he ends up distanting himself. For the most part, the consulting detective would surround himself and/or be in the company of his colleagues-- if one would call the local law enforcement one. After all, he spends most of his time focusing on his investigations. Woobin isn't close to many people and for good reason too. In his line of work, being close to others is a dangerous thing since he deals with ominous people on a case by case basis. The very last thing he wants to do is to get those he is close to and/or cares about in harms way. So he puts up a protective barrier and closes himself off from the rest of them even if he wants to open up and be close to them someway, some how.
Where was your character born? Where have they lived since then? In 1989, Woobin was born in Seoul, South Korea. However, at the age of thirteen his family moved to Jeonju, South Korea. He remained in that city until the age of twenty-one where he later moved back to the nation's capital. Since then the consulting detective has lived in Seoul for the past four years and has expressed no desires of moving any time soon.
Where does your character go when they’re angry? There are a few places Woobin would go if he were angry. One place would be the most obvious one: his apartment. Secondly, it would be somewhere along side the Han River. If the weather is shitty and he has more stress than he can handle, he would venture off to a gym to blow off some steam.
What makes your character laugh out loud? Seldom does Woobin ever laugh out loud, but when he does one sure way to entertain him would be over drinks (when he's not depressed or anxious). Though his alcohol tolerance is higher than the average person, after quite a few rounds of alcohol to forget his worries, the consulting detective enjoys a good laugh over dumb puns, karaoke, and exceptional company.
When has your character been in love? Had a broken heart? Although they were all a different kind of love, Woobin has been in love at some point in his life. There was his puppy love in his adolescent years, his first girl friend in his high school years, and of course his first love later on. Has he ever experienced a broken heart? Yes, he has. Has he ever broke someone else's heart? More than likely; perhaps he isn't even aware that he might have. Regardless, he had been on either side of having his heart broken by those he admired and breaking the hearts of others.
When your character thinks of their childhood kitchen, what smell do they associate with it? Why is that smell so resonant for them? Whenever Woobin recalls his childhood memories, one smell he would associate with the kitchen would be the smell of kimchi jjigae being cooked by his omma. The smell is so resonant for him because his omma made her own kimchi. Since the weather is getting colder this season, this stew would be the perfect dish to make warm up from the inside out.
In 100 words, write about what your muse feels physically or mentally when it comes to love. Try to fully describe it without going overboard, so think about the useful details.
There are not enough words in the English or Korean language that could be strung together to explain how Consulting Detective Kim feels about love; either physically or mentally. The three simple words, “I love you" does not convey the immense feeling he possesses as it is more complex than that. It is like giving someone a loaded gun pointed towards his chest, hoping they will not pull the trigger. It is like having someone’s hands wrapped around his neck and telling him to breathe. Like glass, love is hard but also fragile. It should be handled cautiously and tenderly.
headcanon [ does your muse have any deep, dark secrets in the past that may come back to haunt them? ]
As a consulting detective for hire in Seoul, who focuses on uncovering secrets of others, it comes with the profession for him to have some sort of deep and dark secrets of his own. While some of them may come back to haunt him in the near future, most of them died in the past-- although Woobin has not forgotten them.
If in the event that one or two of them come to light, the twenty-five year old would not hide nor run away from them. Instead, he would face them rather courageously; with his shoulders back and head high.
