YOU'RE DEAD
Your laugh filled the air and danced with the bees Your breath was a summer breeze You were a ruler and your kingdom trees Your smile would bring anyone to their knees How adventurous you used to be
Your curiosity used to get you into trouble When people saw you, they weren't seeing double That was your brother, by your side Sometimes I feel like he's the one that died This elegy is brotherly, it's you who's not alive
You were gone too soon, like a waning moon your dreams were as bright as stars, but they no longer shoot that far
Your memory sticks to my heart like tar It's just as dark
You were slaughtered, but who am I to blame for your death?
Who will mop up all these tears I've wept?
Make up for the nights I've never slept?
These craters have depth
Did Brother steal away your life?
Was getting your point across worth the strife?
Bruises and bloody knuckles are rife
Yet he swears he's sorry at the end of the night....every night
Did Mother shrink you too small?
Did her poison finally sink into your skull?
Did she even love you at all?
Maybe your insecurities brought about your fall
Was it your peers the put you to death?
Did they scratch away at you until there was nothing left? They injected their malevolence into your vein like meth
Did they watch as you breathed your last breath?
Friends don't kill friends
What was your murder's plan of attack?
Did they stab you in the back?
Were you even slain?
Or were you just tired of the pain?
To survive, you played by their game
To thrive, your heart you had to contain
Is gone better then insane?
Questions flood my thoughts like a monsoon
I grieve my full moon
I keep a scrap of you in my heart
I think maybe, maybe we're not truly apart
Do you recall sitting under a tree, of which you named Oakley?
Talking to him for hours on end, and you knew he always listenened
I remember that tree, and how a tower of bark was like family
Do you remember falling asleep on Dad's lap?
You're gone now, you no longer nap
You no longer do a lot of things
You're six feet under, burried in apathy
Inside a coffin calloused with misery
You are earthbound, underground is where you're safe and sound
You probably miss the clouds, how they were free to float around
But you're not a cloud
You're not a star
You were moon
Your pushing up daisies, resting in peace, deceased,
everyone knows what it means.
I'll say what everyone is thinking in their head:
YOU'RE DEAD
