In the Dust of the Stars is a crown entirely made by hand using raw quartz crystal points to create the iconic shape. The idea of a royalty based in nature and personal power inspired the piece, and the many other quartz and semi-precious handmade crowns in the Elemental Child line. . Blessings for CrownForMcBride
As some of you might have noticed, from my tweets and posts, the original Crown that was sent to Melissa McBride didn't make it to its destination.Ā USPS totally dropped the ball and lost it.
Because I wasn't offered an additional insurance (even though the manager at my post office claims that my package did have additional insurance) USPS only covers 50 dollars of what the crown was worth and thus they will be sending a check for 50 dollars plus what I had spent on shipping (around 20 dollars).Ā This only covers 50% of the crown.
Since I still want to Crown Melissa I had decided that I would pay the other half and repurchase the crown.Ā However, it turns out that money will be very very tight in the upcoming months so I was unable to fulfill this promise.Ā I fully intended to return the money to those who wanted their money back.
And that's where the blessing came in.
Ā After initially contacting Gillian from Elemental Child asking to see if she still had the material to make a second crown, I had to contact her again to tell her that unfortunately I wouldn't be purchasing the crown again and asking if she had some other crown that was worth $70 dollars.Ā Ā I was not expecting the answer I got.Ā
Gillian, a wonderfulĀ artist who sells beautiful jewelry and crowns from elemental stones, has offered to send me another crown, the exact one we had received before, at half of the price because she wants us to have the crown we so carefully and passionately fundraised for.Ā I cannot stress how wonderfulĀ and kind this is because as an independent artist she has to valueĀ her work and make a profit but she's willing to forfeit the profit and isĀ simply asking me toĀ cover the expenses to create the crown ($70) and the shipping fee ($15).Ā With the money that USPS is sending (had to write in for them to reissue the check) I only have to cover the shipping fee!Ā She is a wonderful human being!
Ā As soon as the check arrives I will cash it and pay for the second crown!!!
I will try to convince my mom to embroider the pillow again; it took her a long time and her hands hurt a lot afterwards (she is about to be 61) so I'm hoping she'll consider it.
Ā And then we will send the crown again; not through USPS though.
Ā So... if any of you read this... please send a huge thank you to Gillian from elementalchild.com
