While she’s read about all of the nations and the towns throughout the world, nothing could compare to hearing about it from someone who’s been there. “Like... Mondstadt! I’ve read that it’s famous for its wine, and that it’s the City of Freedom, but... what’s it like living there?”

being with zhongli, at any given time, always stirs up some feelings that confuse him. truth be told, aether isn’t even sure what they mean, or even what they could be- but as long as he doesn’t say anything, it doesn’t matter, right? no one has to know that he doesn’t know what he’s feeling. 

it’s late enough, and he’s exhausted, when they finally part ways. zhongli was kind enough to accompany him to the inn. (and maybe, the entire walk there, aether had held the former archon’s hand). he pauses, looking down before lifting the other’s hand and pressing a kiss to the back. 

“thank you,” softly, almost shyly.
