AUDIO WEDNESDAY!
Today: The Long Haul by Black English (Formerly NO) from 1x09, “You Do It To Yourself”.
[Sherlock and Watson sit on a bench, waiting on her ex to show up for rehab. They both know he's not coming but decide to wait 10 more minutes regardless.]
“When the drunks start singing this way Baby's got her best dress stained I hope you got a minute Hope you want me in it For the long haul All night long We'll be fine I'm told Together we'll grow old So kiss me till the last train leaving Then stand yourself by me We'll fall until we're free This helium prefers no ceiling.”
One of the best scenes from season 1, we can all agree. Holmes and Watson are in it for the long haul.
BONUS: “Not tonight, Watson. Not tonight.”

INTRODUCING- New to my blog: Audio Wednesdays! Once a week I’ll be sharing one track from Elementary with you, along with the episode title, brief description of the scene and an excerpt of the lyrics. Introducing this to celebrate Elementary’s fantastic music choice even today! THIS WEEK: “The Crooked Kind” by Radical Face; From 2x12, “The Diabolical Kind”. [As Sherlock brings Moriarty out; and as Sherlock is sitting by the fire and Joan enters.] “I heard you tellin’ lies I heard you say you weren’t born of our blood I know we’re the crooked kind But you’re crooked too, boy, and it shows.
Some get dealt simple hands Some walk the common paths, all nice and worn But all folks are damaged goods It ain’t a talk of “if, ” just one of “when” and “how”.
…I hear their voices somewhere in my bones I feel them sing along when I’m alone When I’m not too frightened that is when I know
That I’m here with everyone They’re never truly gone I know it’s everyone And I hear their songs Oh, I’m lost with everyone.”
To me, this song is reflective of how Moriarty and Sherlock think of themselves as two sides of the same coin. Are they the same “crooked” person, with one on The Good Side and one on The Bad Side? Or are they two completely different people?
