I am so unwell rn I'll never get over Joan & Sherlock's friendship/bond/relationship I love them so much they're partners they're best friends they're family they make each other happy they understand each other they're just two people who love each other
I love (and hope someone gifs) the scene this week where joan and sherlock are staring at the illustrations. She notices something, he notices her notice something, but is patient with her in a way he wouldn’t be with anyone else. He respects her abilities and knows he needs to give her the space to get it full formed in her mind before she can tell him.
Also her medical expertise means she knows and figures out something he doesn’t. He had already told her a lot of things that he had managed to figure out.
It was just such a moment of partnership and collaboration, and I loved it.

Sherlock sighs, putting down a cup he’d been filling with tea and turning to face her. “When I was younger and more impressionable and less sure as to my place in the universe, she briefly turned my life into musical theater for several weeks and then tried to convince me to self-immolate.” He shrugs. “Obviously, I declined. Nevertheless, we have remained in touch, as she is a fascinating individual, and this communication has led her to bring a missing persons case here.”
why I love it: I read this before I knew anything about Pippin the musical, and then I looked up this video of her performing, and friends: I died. and what a GREAT venue for kinda-sorta-meta! and it’s SO FUNNY!
Right as Mary leaves, she says, “If you find anything interesting, let me know.”
“Do you have any contact information?” Joan says tightly.
“Oh, no,” Mary says, smiling. “I’ll just show up.”
