How I entered/learned about the said game/show/movie/etc of that fandom
as probably most other people did, too, I learned about Elementary via the Sherlock fandom outcry that America dared to make their own contemporary Holmes show and had casted a woman as Watson out of, presumably, homophobic reasons, just so they could have romantic/sexual tension between their leads. I admit I shared all these doubts and UK-centric prejudices but I also really liked Lucy Liu and even though I was convinced it couldn’t be good and despaired of the “inevitable” romantic subplot + procedural format, I decided to give it a chance. It’s always easier to properly despise something if you know it, after all! And am I glad I did give it that chance!! Because by now I love it 500 % more than Sherlock!!

Joan Watson is a goddess and I love her to pieces!!

Mycroft Holmes!!! (that whole thing with Mycroft was the only time I seriously doubted the Elementary writers and casting directors)

Pairing that everyone likes but I don’t get
I don’t know about “everyone” but I do know there’s some people who ship Joan and Sherlock and while I may, on some level, get the appeal, I just find it way too refreshing to have five seasons of a show with (imo) zero romantic/sexual tension between two leads of opposite genders!!! I mean, give me just one other example of a platonic relationship between the two leads of a show when they’re not of the same gender!! It’s really fricking hard because that never happens!!! AND I LOVE IT!!! SO MUCH!!!! So even apart from the fact that I see no tension, personally, I just don’t understand why you would want to change that?!

I dunno. How everyone agrees Joan Watson is a goddess? Tbh, I’m not really in the fandom as such.

A friend dragged me into it because she loved the first Iron Man movie so much. We shipped Pepperony really hard and wrote an epic RPG with enormous plot holes but lots of feels. That was shortly before the second IM came out. I stayed, I’m not really sure she did.

Tony Stark, I guess? Very closely followed by Peggy Carter. Or the other way round? Both? Both is good!
Least fave character
uh … dunno, Senator Stern? Grant Ward maybe, but he’s so wonderfully terrible that I love to hate him, so …

Probably unpopular opinion but I’m not very invested in Bucky and don’t see the appeal so any ship with him, I guess.

there’s some really crazy talented people out there making art and cosplays and writing fanfics.

The whole civil war thing within the fandom is just stupid, imo. I thought they did a really good job with showing where both sides come from and why they both act maybe stupid. It feels like shipping wars but even more stupid.

Someone give Tony a hug. Someone give Pepper back to Tony. Someone GIVE ME A THIRD SEASON OF AGENT CARTER!!!!!
