Musicals are time loops. Every night, the same thing happens except for a few minor differences. It always ends the same. If you want the characters to do something different or to make better choices, too bad. The actors are bound by the script and the score. The only way for the time loop to end is for the show to close. But you (the audience) don't want the show to close, nor do the actors who would like to be employed. It's a lose/lose situation. For the actors, audience, technicians, and for the characters, who are forever stuck in the same stretch of time.
Connecting the dots (not connecting shit)
Was listening to the Sweeney Todd revival album when I remembered Todd also calls Mrs. Lovett "my sweet"... so I had to quickly draw a Sweeney Todd AU for gelphie
the thing about Sweeney Todd is that you'll hear the greatest song ever written for a musical and then it's followed by the greatest song ever written for a musical and then the next song after that is also the greatest song ever written for a musical because what do you mean Kiss Me - Pretty Women - Epiphany - A Little Priest - God That's Good! - Johanna (Quartet) are all consecutive, most insane six song run of all time
i think we shall not meet again
Phantom of the Opera: Don't kill people. It will only make the object of your affection hate you.
Little Shop of Horrors: Don't kill people. You will immediately get in over your head.
Sweeney Todd: Don't kill people. Revenge will blind you to what's really important.
Heathers: Don't kill people. Nobody is all good or all bad, and you rob them of the chance to change.
American Psycho: Don't kill people. In a world this brutal, not even violence will make you special.
Assassins: Bro go ahead and kill people. It might be cool. Everyone pretending to care is either a pussy or lying.
