CONNECTION DETAILS: Elena's sister, Ines, fell in love with this character in high school, and soon after graduating (in 2009), they moved to Los Angeles with Ines and her mother. Although they really, really tried to make things work, and even had a beautiful baby girl, Marisol. But they divorced in 2021, and the character moved back home to Merrock. Since then, Elena has stepped up to be the world's best aunt to Marisol and help him with anything that he needs as a single parent.
LAST NOTES: I'm not against the idea of a potential romance if the chemistry is there, but it is absolutely, 100% not required or needs to even be a thought if those platonic, familial vibes are stronger! As long as the basic timeline is followed and Lena can be part of Marisol's life, I'm flexible on details!

Sweet as the sugar cubes her abuela used to keep on the tiny dish in her tea set, Elena has earned the nickname ‘saint’ from most of her family. She is the kind of good-natured, friendly person that would stop to help anyone, who brought home wounded baby birds and let spiders out of the house. She’s quick-witted and funny, but the best shoulder to cry on when you’ve had a bad day, and the first person you want to take out for (non-alcoholic) drinks on a good day. She can be a bit reserved and shy around those she doesn’t know, and is a perpetual people pleaser, which often means she forgets to take care of number one, but… she’s working on it!

Merrock is the only home that Elena has ever known, and she’s always been alright with that.
Her parents, Santiago and Andrea, met in Los Angeles, California, where Santiago was just starting his career as an investment banker, and Andrea a young, promising model. The two fell instantly in love and were married within months of meeting. The first few years of their lives were wedded bliss, one of the 'hot, it couples’ in a city of shiny, beautiful people, they walked red carpets and attended award shows, love radiating from every smile.
However, a decade into their reign as a 'power couple’ of the west coast, Andrea discovered that she was pregnant. Overjoyed – and maybe a little overwhelmed – Santiago made the decision to move their small family to a little town in Maine called Merrock. His mother, Sofia, lived alone in the tiny fishing town after losing her husband, and the opportunity seemed perfect to make the move. This quiet life, more than anything, was what Santiago wanted, and the family settled into a new way with the addition of their little girl, Ines. A few years later, everything changed again, when Andrea announced that she was once again expecting. The sun was shining, birds were singing, and flowers had bloomed when Elena Sofia Vazquez, as she would come to be known, was born on a beautiful Merrock morning.
Life was good to Elena; she had an older sister to look up to, great friends in school, a good head on her shoulders. And most importantly, she was blessed with parents who didn’t hesitate to support her, first with enrolling in gymnastics, and then letting her adopt the kitten she always wanted, and later in her pre-teen years, helping her become the powerful, wonderful woman that she was always meant to be, loving and embracing her during her transition. It was after her fourteenth birthday that things started to go awry.
For as much as they loved their children, Santiago and Andrea were flawed as partners; although they would always love one another, the marriage had stalled, and they gently announced to Ines and Elena that Andrea would be moving out, heading back to California, and the girls could choose to stay in Merrock with Santiago and Sofia, or move to Los Angeles with Andrea. Ines, already finished with high school, made the jump with her fiancé, moved across the country, while Elena stayed behind in the little town that had always been accepting and supportive of her.
Elena began to spend more and more time with her grandmother in Lupine Lane, spending the night at her home, even going as far as decorating the guest room to her liking, making it feel like her own space. In a sense, during her most formative years as a woman, her grandmother took over, teaching her how to dress, how to do her hair, and most importantly: how to do makeup. That was Elena’s favorite thing growing up, was doing her makeup, and doing makeup for her friends, always being the one retouching in bathrooms at school dances, being called over early for date nights… it was enough to inspire her to attend community college after graduation, taking up cosmetology and graduating top of her class. Elena moved in with her grandmother full time, taking a job at the local grocery store to help cover bills (despite her father cutting them both large checks every month to help) until answering a 'help wanted’ ad for Universal Rocks, the local metaphysical shop in town. Life was good, calm; steady. Elena was happy with her little life.
But life never stays simple very long, and the second upheaval happened just a few years ago, when Ines announced to her younger sister that she was divorcing her husband, who was taking custody of their daughter, Marisol. While Ines planned on staying in California – she had followed in their mother’s footsteps, chasing a life of luxury and becoming a model slash actress slash socialite -- her husband would be returning to Merrock with their daughter; fate could be funny sometimes. It was around this time, with Elena bonding with her niece over long weekend with Sofia, that she began to notice her grandmother’s mental decline, and worked with her doctors to help her out, becoming her primary caretaker until Sofia could no longer live at home. She made her granddaughter promise to look after the little home in Lupine Lane, and to visit her often at North Shore.
Now, Elena finds herself living in her abuela’s home, helping to raise her niece, doing freelance gigs as a make-up artist and tending the shop at Universal Rocks, enjoying her little found family on Lupine Lane in the suburbs of Merrock.
