Okay so in some lore elves live forever or at the very least have a really long life span so maybe something with the team finding out exactly how old Buck is? Like they’re joking around about him being a kid or something and he’s like “about that haha”.
“Hey Buckaroo, come here and help me lift this table with your crazy elf strength.” Chim motions him over.
Buck chuckles, gallivanting over. “I don’t need elf strength to move a table.”
Chim rolls his eyes. “Fine, youth then. Use your still in your twenties strength to lift this up for me.”
Buck laughs at that. “Yeah, maybe a hundred and fifty years ago.” he easily moves the table all on his own, readjusting it to where Chim needs it to be.
Hen tilts her head, putting down her magazine. “Did I hear right or did the actual number a hundred and fifty just come out of your mouth?”
Eddie and Bobby, who were cleaning up in the kitchen, and only half paying attention to the chatter before, also stop what they’re doing to listen in.
Buck nods, as if it’s obvious. “Well, yeah, I haven’t been in my twenties for over a century.” he shrugs. He keeps forgetting that he’s among humans now.
He’s one of the first of his kind to join the mundane, so of course the humans wouldn’t be caught up on the lore of it all.
“Wait, so how old are you?” Chim balks.
“I turn a hundred and eighty two today, actually.”
“Wait, today?” Hen sits up from her chair. “Man, way to give us notice!”
Buck blinks. “What?”
Eddie leans over the kitchen counter and huffs at the elf. “We wanted to celebrate your birthday!” The elf has only been with them a handful of months, at most, but he’s made himself right at home, so it’s only a given they’d want to do it up for his first birthday with the team.
“Oh.” Buck nods in acknowledgment. “I forgot humans celebrate every year they’re alive---elves live for kind of a long time, so we don’t bother. So it’s fine if we skip mine. I don’t mind.”
Bobby shakes his head. “I’m baking you a cake. Hen, can you go to the corner store for---”
“Candles and balloons, gotcha Cap.” Hen’s already grabbing Chimney to help her with the most likely ridiculous amount of decorations they’ll end up getting.
Eddie rolls his sleeves up. “I’ll finish cleaning up here Cap, so you can start on the cake.”
“Great.” Bobby points at Buck. “You have one job.”
Buck tilts his head.
“Act surprised when we bring out the cake.”
Buck smiles, saluting the Captain. Humans are strange creatures. But he likes them plenty.
