God sometimes you just remember some bad cards that used to help you dominate kitchen table magic and you gotta rant about them.
I remember winning countless games off of Foul-Tongue Shriek of all cards.
I had this small deck mainly built around the Magic Origins Elf package, which tbh was probably what won my most games, but Shriek was often such a nice finisher for when punching through usually wasn't enough.
You could usually amount pretty huge boards, but at the time I had no amount of evasion and I don't think there was any proper elf lords printed around that time either? So some times Shriek was the only way to actually finish the game.
Actually a couple of games might have been one off of some cheeky Might of the Masses plays as well.
Another kinda janky common spell from origins that really overperformed at kitchen table magic.
As an adult, taking stock of my decks is probably a good idea for insurance purposes. Never really thought I’d think something like that when I started collecting cards.
Oh well. My Rhys, The Redeemed Commander deck is all about filling the board with elves and getting plenty of mana. It no longer has Coat of Arms because I’ve come across a few too many Krenkos, but there are a few cards to untap Rhys so he can tap again. Both Elvish Archdruid and Priest of Titania can make tons of mana, and in a pinch you can run all of it through Elder of Laurels to make whatever creature isn’t blocked into a game-ending threat.
At current it comes to $191.12 not including basic lands, but I would like to swap Huatli, Radiant Champion in, for instance.
I... I *REALLY* Like Freyalise guys, but I can't do a G/W and Mono Green EDH... Maybe I'll Make Selvala Enchantress or Durdle. I like Selvala too much to NOT have a selvala. I wanna use a Walker commander and she's the straight best, especially for elf ramp.
So I want to make a casual elf deck for mtg, one to kick around a kitchen table and won’t cost me much. Basically trying to get into another color (I’m an izzet mage) and I’m a bit more of a Spike than my friends. So I want to make something new and challenging, so that we all can have fun.
Does anyone have suggestions or tips to start on this?
I made an elf deck. It's mostly proxies. It also worth $50 ish by my estimates.
-Edit- okay, so 37/60 aren't proxies. That means that 23 are proxies. That's not mostly. Also, I built this and hung at Barnes and Noble for a few hours instead of homework. :)
