Travelling Merchant (Elrond) PT3
Part One:
Part Three:
A request from @wraith-queen-todd who asked for Lord Elrond.
I wasn’t sure what to write, and I found it quite hard to pinpoint his character, this was the best I could do….
and as usual its more than one part, how do people write little things?
Months had passed since you were last at Rivendell, and you were missing it so much, well more specifically you were missing Lord Elrond and were rather looking forward to seeing him again, which wasn’t a good thing. You can’t get close to him. He was an elf, a lord, he has children far older than you, he is so far out of your league that there was certainly no hope and yet when he saw him standing at the entrance waiting to greet you, you were feeling rather giddy. He greeted you traditionally, today for a change he joined you while you worked, trading with the local merchants, you filled up your cart with what you wanted, ready to move out the next morning.
Lord Elrond invited you to dinner, which you jumped at the chance, but first he had some work to do, giving you a chance to make yourself look more presentable, a good bath was well needed, having been traveling for so long.
You hadn’t realised it while getting dressed, that you put more effort into what you looked like than normal. You felt rather embarrassed when you joined Lord Elrond. He too seemed to be more dressed up than normal, you just assumed that it was because of an important meeting or the likes. The start of the conversation was mostly asking how each other was,
“I admit I was rather worried when you left” Lord Elrond expressed,
“Oh, thank you but I’m fine” you returned, blushing a little. Knowing he was worried made your heart sing. It was stupid to get excited over it, he was a nice being, that was all. After asking about how behind your where on your trades. He asked you a question that caught you off guard.
“Have you ever considered settling down?”
It was that you were never asked this before, after all, a young woman traveling on her own for the most part, it was unusual, you were content with your traveling life, and never considered settling down, lately, however, it had been on your mind. You weren’t sure if it was because of the accident, it wasn’t the first time you had problems. Or maybe it was because you had never met anyone you would consider settling down with, until Lord Elrond.
“Well, I’ve never met anyone I would consider settling down with” you replied leaving out the ‘until now’ part.
“No one out the worthy?” Lord Elrond mused. You blushed, wanting to tell him he was, but that would be very inappropriate.
“I uh, guess not” you replied, jokingly. Lord Elrond smiled at you, it looked sad. You took this opportunity to ask about his wife, you knew she wasn’t in the picture, but not why.
Lord Elrond paused, before telling you about the orc attack, and how she passed away because of it.
“I’m sorry” you whispered,
“She was kind, she would want me to be happy, no matter what” he continued, it almost sounded like he was trying to reassure himself of something when he said ‘she would want me to be happy’
“You are planning on doing something you have doubts about?” you questioned, you weren’t sure where the boldness came from but you were going with it. Lord Elrond looked bewildered but suddenly smiled.
“You can tell?” he asked,
“Hey, I’m good at reading people” you smiled, “and whatever it is on your mind as you wearing a deep frown” you had noticed it the moment you joined him for dinner.
“I can not hide anything from you” he noted.
“No, and if you wish to talk I’ll listen” you reassured.
“Perhaps later then” he suggested.
As promised, later that evening, as the sun began to set, Lord Elrond invited you for a walk, wanting to talk. It was a while before anything was said between you two. Lord Elrond started.
“The day I married Celebrian, was one of the happiest days of my life, I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her, and we were blessed with three children who I am very proud off, The day she died I convinced myself I could never live without her, my children helped me through it. But I was certain I could never love again, I was wrong”
You listened intently, his expression was hard to read. When he looked up to you, you could see the conflicting emotions he turned away and continued
“Celebrian would want me to be happy, of that I am certain, regardless of who it was with, I owe my brother an apology I suppose” he was smiling at the memory he was thinking of.
This time when he turned to you, there was a determination in his eyes.
“I never thought the one who would teach me to love again would be a human” he was talking directly at you. You were at a loss for words, was he really talking about you?
“You have taught me” he confirmed.
“Me?” you blurted out, “You love me? me, as in a human, me as in well me, I’m not worthy of you, far from it, I’m me” you were struggling to get your point across,
“You are far more than you realise” Lord Elrond noted. He stepped closer to you, gauging your expression,
“I wanted this for so long, but I never believed it could be real, it was just a glorious dream” you expressed.
Lord Elrond placed his hand on your cheek, it was much warmer than you would have thought to look at him. His movement towards you was slow, cautious, but soon enough his lips were pressed against yours. Everything around you disapElrondpeared, all doubts you had slipped away. His kiss was so loving, so gentle and honest, it was something you had never experience in any way. You were melting from the lips down. Him pulling away only made you yearn for more. Lord Elrond pulled you into an embrace, giving you the chance to hid your flustered face.
“I won't ask you to give up your job, but I ask you to call Rivendell home” he whispered.
“I’ve never had a home before” you returned smiling at the thought it, “As lovely as this place is, it’s only home because of you” you admitted. Lord Elrond’s arms tightened around you pleased with your answer.
Lord Elrond walked you to the fountain, pulling you to his side as you watched the water flow. You, in turn, rested your head on his chest, enjoying the warmth. You had questions, about the two of you, doubts even, but for now, you just wanted to enjoy this moment, to print it into your mind. You focused your eyes on the scenery, your ears listened intently to the faint heartbeat of Elrond, the smell of wildflowers and fresh water filled your nose, while your body absorbed the comforting heat radiating off the arms around you and should the world come crashing down tomorrow, you will have this moment. This perfect memory.
(( OOC: I know, it's rather saddening. It'd have been fun to have a Phantom stalking about |D
