KEHLANI KILLARLUNG / THE VENGEFUL HAND
Kehlani was fortunate. At least, that was what her family had always told her. The Killarlung Pharmaceutical company was one of many, but the only one that had some footing in legality beneath the rule of the Tendonstrep Commonwealth. They lived outside the higher class inner city of Tendonstrep, a holy land inhabited by followers of the Commonwealth’s Reverend. Kehlani’s family took great pride in their work and association with the Commonwealth. Despite this, she never knew luxury. Kehlani was expected to uphold the company after her parents. Kehlani was not necessarily fond of this, as her own interests laid in medicine and combat. Being a company owner was a luxury on Kuvorot and to be recognized by the Commonwealth was an honor. But not to Kehlani. On her own time, she had begun to teach herself medicine and combat. After later losing her partner, Adriel, to one of Lyra Slaughterbane’s sadistic attacks, Kehlani set out on a path of revenge against Lyra. She abandoned her duties and left her town, venturing far out into the world of Kuvorot to find Lyra and kill her. Little does she know, her journey may end in tragedy and her faith may be broken forever. A path of vengeance is not one easily walked.
the cast of my kuvorot headworld continues to expand... i only have a handful of characters left to finish designing before i really delve into their stories. as mentioned in the writing above, kehlani is essentially the primary protagonist of kuvorot. she’s driven by vengeance and does absolutely anything she has to in order to get closer to lyra in order to enact her revenge.
despite being the protagonist of this story, she is far from a hero. in hindsight, kehlani is no better than the saurians she hunts. kehlani has shifted from saving lives to taking others and risking her own, especially if that means she's one step closer to lyra. she's desparate and seething with rage, and that eventually leads her to being swayed by vander, who also seeks lyra.
suffice to say, body of kuvorot is shaping to be one of my darkest narratives, and it's been really fun to write it so far!
im serene just like you
