Kai breathed in deeply with a smile as the salty air entered his lungs. He always loved Camp Half Blood’s lake. It so big, it almost looked like an ocean. Today was the day he was going to tell Trent how he felt. How he really felt. He had told the tall red haired boy to meet him on the beach around sunset, and now he was waiting for him.
A few minutes later, Kai’s ears pricked up as he turned the soft crunch of sand. “Hey brah.” He said with a grin as Trent sat down. They bro-fisted and leaned back on their hands, watching the sun disappear below the horizon.
“Hey.” Trent greeted with a grin. “What’s up man, what’s on your mind?”
Suddenly Kai felt very nervous. He had rehearsed what he was going to say since yesterday, but now, nothing would come up. He glanced and Trent.
“Yeah man, I’m cool.” He affirmed with a nod. Then he shook his head. “Nah man, who am I kidding?” he said, straightening up. Trent followed suit and looked at him. He placed hand on the Hawaiian’s shoulder.
“What’s up Kai?” He asked. Kai looked at him. Man, his eyes were green. They reminded him of the ocean. But then again, most things did. And his red hair reminded him of the way the sun hit the water, at that perfect time when the day and the night merged together. Kind of like it was now.
He took a deep breath and shook his head. Suddenly, he leaned in and his lips were on Trent’s. Trent jerked back suddenly in surprise.
“What was that?” he asked, looking at Kai open mouthed. Kai nervously ran a hand through his hair and stood up hastily.
“Sorry man, I dunno what came over me-“ He said, turning to go. But he felt a hand seize his wrist and pull him back down.
“Shut up man.”
Kai hummed in delight as Trent plowed his lips into his.
