I’m not one to want to reshell characters that I had created... heck I’m not even one to have characters really. But if I were to reshell Elhaym I would have to use  Fairy Orris of Petals by Aileen Doll. She isn’t available anymore so I am safe, but dang. She would be perfect.

Fighting continues across Alizarin, but we have finally received reports from the other systems attacked. The defenses of Qo’noS, Trill, and Sauria held, and the attacking fleets withdrew at seemingly the same time as we destroyed the planet-killer. There is still ground fighting on Trill.

But the worst report is from Captain Elhaym, who took command of the 531st after Adm. Talana was injured.

It seems that the Iconians used a similar strategy in that system: they sent in ships to attack the orbital habitats and defenses around Kaltivex Prime, and landed Herald ground troops throughout the Habitats as well. Once the planetary defenses were destroyed and the fleet--a combination of a handful of small Kaltivexian ships, the Romulan Seventh Fleet, and the 531st--was clearly losing, they sent in the planet-killer dreadnought.

“We tried to stop it,” Elhaym told me, clearly distressed. “We hit it with everything we had, and we did damage it, but we couldn’t stop it!”

Kaltivex Prime has been destroyed. Most of the Habitats which survived the attacking fleet were destroyed by the planet’s debris, but the 531st was able to drag some to safety and engage the Herald troops on board them. After the destruction of the planet, the Herald fleet withdrew--presumably to come here to Alizarin. Doubtless their intention was to destroy their targets in order from least to most defended, the fleet accompanying the dreadnought growing larger with each world.

In total, some 700 million Kaltivexians are dead. About 200 survived in the salvaged Habitats or other facilities in the system, and of those nearly 70 are critically wounded. Another 100 are estimated to be away from Kaltivex, including our own Commander Diny, who is at Kyana Station working on the repairs to the Phoenix.

In addition, the USS Sakura was destroyed during the battle. About half the crew made it to escape pods, but all but one of those escape pods was destroyed in the destruction of the planet. Among the dead is her captain, Lt. Cmdr Koltz. In total, the 531st’s casualties are 131 dead, 513 seriously injured.
