Eli grew up as privileged, yet neglected young man on the upper east side. The son of a socialite — his parents were focused on parties, image, and jet setting rather than raising their one and only child. His upbringing was in the hands of a team of nannies, one of which was solely responsible for turning him into a man. The lack of closeness with the people who were supposed to love him most, and his caregiver taking advantage of his naivety, damaged him with an inability to properly understand and express his emotions. It wasn’t until he met his first serious girlfriend that he caught a glimpse of what it meant to truly love another person. When it was over, Eli fell back to square one — putting on a mask of emotion, and mimicking how other people reacted to situations when he couldn’t actually feel it. The numbness has become apart of him, and he’s unsure he could ever recover.
