Eli’s eyes widened. “Oh.” He breathed, clearly surprised at Charlotte’s confession. “I just… I assumed this was a happy moment for you and your boyfriend.” He frowned before leaning forward, positioning himself closer to the girl to ensure she could hear his lowered voice. “What happened eight months ago?” Curiosity was getting the best of him. Eli was like a starving man finally getting sustenance after years of nothing. He needed this; wanted this –  time with Charlotte to know how she was doing. Even if their romantic love had faded, their human connection was something that couldn’t be described. That connection was the reason he was so eager for this moment alone.

“A happy moment?” Charlotte laughed coldly, pushing a hand through her dark brown, almost black, hair. Unable to describe just how wrong he was, not to mention she hadn’t known until recently that it was Griffin’s baby, which rather took the shine out of the so called happy discovery of having a baby at all. As he leant forward she internally cursed herself for revealing that something had happened to her eight months ago, of course he was going to ask because had it been something he’d said to her, she’d have done the same thing. This was why she was normally always thinking ahead, but everything recently had worn her down so much she kept missing simple things. Looking down at her lacquered red fingernails she sighed, starting to drum on the tabletop. “If you must know I had an abortion eight months ago.”

Eli let put a heavy breath. Frowning more deeply, his eyes flickered to Charlotte’s hand with once again the overwhelming desire to reach out and comfort her. Her walls still seemed sky high; iron clad. He held off for now and kept his fingers interlocked together tightly. “I’m sorry, Char.” He sighed. “I know how you felt about babies when we were together, I just... didn’t know if your opinion had changed.” Reaching for his tea, Eli leaned back and took a sip as he contemplated everything he’d been told. “I hope some of the past few years have been good for you... not all bad.”

E’s dark gaze rotated down towards the cigarettes that Eli was gesturing to. With a roll of his eyes, he handed one over to the drunk. “I swear to Christ you act like you own this damn place,” the phrase rolled off the man’s tongue in a joking tone just before the entrance music sounded to announce the first danger, Lulu. She was beautiful, one of E’s favorite girls. She had the skin of a European goddess and the eyes of an innocent saint. Her dance moves were anything but saintly, however; she started every number the same way. She’d pick a man out of the crowd and make him her focus for the show. Her brilliant gaze came to rest on E and Eli. Elias’ smirk did not falter as the woman approached, letting Eli be her target. Lulu only wore frosted wigs for her shows. Tonight’s was a frosted lavender. She looked stunning in her sequins outfit.

While Lulu toyed with Eli, E pulled out a stack of ten dollar bills he kept on hand during these visits. He pushed one of the bills into the woman’s thong before giving her ass a smack - only he was allowed to touch the woman in such a manner. “Perfecto!” he shouted at the woman before motioning the cocktail waitress over to bring him some whiskey. @eli-baur

As the men were served their whiskey, Eli tore his eyes off of Lulu and playfully nudged Elias. His drunken state had basically destroyed any common sense he had left. “I was up here in VIP last night too.” He confessed, smirking as he gestured towards one of the private rooms to their right. “Don’t tell anyone but... I might have had some very special one-on-one time with Noa in there.” He winked. “She is... damn. She is good at what she does. Give that girl a raise.” Lowering his voice even more, he leaned closer to Elias. “Gave me the best head of my life.”

“And why is that?” she teased looking down at their hands. “You can hardly miss me.. I’m the short, loud, bambi eyed diva who likes to dance on bars” she chuckled and pulled him over to the bar. “I’ll have a vodka soda, more soda than vodka please” batting her lashes at Eli. 

“so what’s a guy like you doing in a place like this? You also never told me your age..”

Laughing again, Eli ordered their drinks - a gin and tonic for him - and leaned against the bar while they waited. His gaze lingered over hers with an amused expression as he answered her question. “I’m 28.” He confessed, reaching down to lazily tangle his fingers through hers. “Still want to hang out with an old man?”

“You have yourself a deal, make your drink a double if you like or I’ll buy you a few.” Rosette said winking at him. She grabbed her bag and slid out still in her scrub pants. She headed inside and talked to Vin. She smiled and ordered her usual and a blowjob for Eli. She tried to hide her amused smile when he saw the drink. “For you.” She said grinning ear to ear.

“A blowjob? For me?” Eli teased with a chuckle, taking the drink before holding it towards Rosette for a cheers. “Cheers, to new friends and a fun night!”

Aspen giggled at his groan, glad that she could control this situation. “Twenty three actually.. Don’t worry I’m legal..” rolling her eyes as her hands slipped back behind his neck as they danced “You’re  good dancer” She whispered as she turned back around just as the song finished “I need another drink.”

Eli’s eyes flashed open at Aspen’s quick change of direction, the alcohol coursing through his veins slowing his reaction time considerably. “Oh, okay.” He agreed with a laugh, following close behind the girl with his hand clasped firmly in her’s. “You better be careful before you get lost. Don’t want you getting away from me.”

Faris’ eyes narrowed with fire as he begrudged her yet again with the insulting pet name. “My name is Faris. Not princess.” Back on the edge of the seat, she was leaning forward to talk to the driver again. “please don’t go there. Go to Manhattan.” The man ignored her. Faris jerked her head around on Eli again. “What did you pay him?” she asked, exasperated. 

She flopped back down against the seat, eyes falling shut as she tried to clear her head of the day she had had. Feeling like she was being watched, she opened her eyes to see the man looking at her. “What’s in Bronx?” she found herself asking, she couldn’t silence her curious nature, no matter her frustrations. @eli-baur​

“A club I frequent.” Eli confessed, his broad shoulders lifting for a dismissive shrug as he glanced over at the girl with a curious raise of his brow. He studied her outfit, her bag, her hair -- she was pretty. Well put together. “A club you would probably turn your nose up at.”

Aspen smirked and kept dancing even though he’d stopped. “Guess how old I am ..” she purred leaning in and pressing their bodies together as she turned around and began grinding against him.

Eli groaned at the sensation of Aspen’s subtle curves pressing into him, his eyes fluttering closed for a second as the pad’s of his fingers dug more firmly into her hips. “I’m hoping at least 21.” He confessed, opening his eyes again to look down at her with a soft gaze. He began to rock to the rhythm once more, keeping his body close to the girl.

This one was an accident.” She hadn’t admitted that it was true in as many words but they both now knew what was going on. There was a pang in her chest at her having to tell someone she’d been so closely involved with for so long, that she was really moving on with her life in such a substantial way. Not that she’d told him who the father was, instead her eyes stayed resolutely staring at then man even when his eyes didn’t meet her own. “Some things happened about eight months ago that have…made it impossible for me to get an abortion. Which is why i’m having it.” The brunette explained calmly, pressing her lips together as if she was smoothing her lipstick when really she just wanted something to do to distract her a little.

Autumn’s nose wrinkled, an involuntary reaction to the works described.  With her lips pursed, she shook her head, “Can’t say I would have elected to read it…or you know..” Grimacing she shrugged quickly, hiding her words once again by her mud, “…see it.”  

“No offense.”  Autumn promised after her sip, her expression faltering to echo his frustrations with a faint frown.  “I’m an editor.”  She said, a snort of a laugh accompanying the irony.  “It’s quite literally my job to read predominately uninspiring shit.”  Autumn breathed out an exasperated sigh, her own feelings on her work at the moment mimicking his.  “Trust, I feel your pain.”  Reaching out towards one of her piles, she leafed through the pages before carefully extracting one that was heavily marked in red and sliding it across the table.  “Read this and tell me…you know what, not even going to prompt you.  Just read it.”

Eli reached for the document and immediately began scanning the words across the page. His dark eyes were focused; brows furrowed -- he was in “the zone” as he liked to call it. That facade quickly cracked as he chuckled softly at what he read. “This is... verbosity at it’s finest.” He teased, unable to stop as his laughter grew in volume. “Wait wait wait -- did the writer really compare the progtagonist’s touch to... ‘rose petals leaving a trail of softness along the river that was my body’?” Tears now springing from the edges of his eyes, Eli passed the paper back to Autumn. “Okay, you win. Even Sparks isn’t this bad.”

“A very famous author... who often gets his works turned into movies. A lot of unrealistic lovey bullshit. Not that hard to guess.” Smirking, Eli took a sip of his coffee before loudly praising the taste left behind on his lips with a satisfied sigh. “Normally it takes me a few months. This one is seeming to take longer.” His confession caused a small frown. “I’ve read the book so many times already and it just... I don’t know. It doesn’t inspire me. So, I’ve hard to force myself to work page by page and it’s been a process." Wanting to change the subject, he gestured towards her own messy pile. “What do you do?”

“I’ve seen better.” Eli teased, unable to stop the bubble of laughter that cortled from his chest. “Kidding, kidding. Yes. It was great.” Turning, he noticed the cab had stopped at their destination. “I’ll pay the cabby. You can buy me a drink to make up for it.”

“Then you know why I want to be there for you.” Eli replied, knowing the rest went unsaid. Charlotte and him matured together, spent some of the best years of their life attached at the hip. No amount of time could erase that. 

At her next question, Eli hesitated and averted his gaze to nothing in particular. He considered how to answer in the best way possible. “I...” He began, words failing him as he frowned. “I almost don’t want to know. I know we’ve moved on, and our lives have gone in new directions, but I can’t help but feel a little... twinge. It’s distant, but it’s there. The part of me that always wanted that with you but will never get it.” Swallowing heavily, Eli glanced at Charlotte once more. “And it makes me wonder why you never wanted it with me and why I wasn’t good enough.”

Eli laughed as he took a seat across from Autumn, tossing his bag aside and lowering his cup of tea to the table. “I do.” He confessed, reaching to open the leather satchel and expose the disarray of papers inside. “I’m a screen writer. I mostly do book-to-movie renditions. I’m working on a New York Times best seller right now... which means I’m up to my ears in mess.”

There was no denying how much she felt for the man because … well there was something electric between them. “Why would you want to be here for me, you’re not my boyfriend anymore Eli.”

“If the tables were turned, would you be there for me?” The question was a turning point. Eli needed to know. To him, Charlotte was a huge part of his life. And even if they weren’t together now -- even if their feelings had changed, it --didn’t erase the fact he would still be there for her if she needed him. But he also knew that he couldn’t exhaust himself for a one sided friendship. If she wouldn’t return the favor, he’d have to let it go completely.
