Hey, hi! I’ve actually been writing over the last like, week, so have some words!
From The Sun Rose:
Elis Trenga is doing eighty down the highway in a stolen car when he realizes he might be having a panic attack.
&
“Oh, fuck.”
It’s a girl.
There is a girl. In the trunk.
Of his stolen car.
&
Finally, she’s standing next to the car, and he’s struck anew with the realization that this is a girl.
Not in a creepy, never seen a girl so close kind of way, but . . .
She’s wearing a school uniform. She’s almost a foot shorter than he is, at a rough guess.
Elis graduated high school a year and a half ago. He sent a couple half-assed college applications out into the world and got his hours at work bumped up from part time to full time and started looking at shitty little apartments three hours away. His parents haven’t started charging him rent yet, but he is in charge of at least his own phone bill and keeping his other payments – car, insurance, fun adult things – up to date on his own.
From Listening to the Mist:
. . .They don’t talk about Dascua a lot, but Mac’s parents have been primarily focused on mapping it lately, and it feels like the war is always the topic of conversation whenever any adults get within an arm’s length of each other.
And every time it is, any time Dascua comes up in conversation, Lark gets a little more tense, a little quieter.
Kit’s not entirely sure what her deal is – if her parents were involved in the war and died in a battle with Dascua’s soldiers, or if she was a cross-border adoption and she’s worried . . . Kit doesn’t know, maybe she’s afraid they won’t want to be her friends if they know she was born in the country they’ve been at war with for a little over a year now.
& (technically spoilers but like, none of you are my nephew and I am in need of someone(s) to ramble & get excited at about this WIP)
Lark opens her eyes and sits up with a groan. She holds a hand to her forehead and looks around. “What–”
Fiery red hair, navy blue dress with a high collar and a deep V-neck.
Ivah looks at her for a moment, eyes wide above the hand delicately covering her mouth, before she rushes forward, the heavy-looking skirt of her dress not quite tangling around her legs.
“Oh, your highness, I finally found you! What are you doing down here?”
