It had be a pleasant shock to bump into Ella, of all people on this island, her apprehensions about Catalina were high as ever but she had to give credit where it was due; this place never failed to surprise her. In a sea full of familiar people and familiar faces, what’s another one? Except the main difference and the biggest takeaway was that she liked Ella. Their interactions were memorable and for Maya to give anything a second look was a rarity, though her recollection of the event she initially met Ella was a puzzle with missing pieces and New York seemed like a lifetime away, Maya never forgot a face like hers. It was unfortunate their first meeting after years was in such a haste, but being modern women they were, they had places to be and things to do, numbers however, were exchanged and the promises of a proper catch up hung the air as they departed. A promise Maya fully intended to follow through.
Sure they could’ve caught up over drinks and dinner, that would’ve been easy, but indulgence was Maya’s middle name and a pamper session was written in the stars.
“The only thing that would make this better is if we had drinks,” Maya grumbled as she flipped through tabs of nail colours they had on file, “Not complaining though, I’m just really glad to see you again, catch me up, we didn’t get enough time the first round.”
