Baby fever eh? Hmmmm how bout main 5’s kid having a nightmare and wanting to sleep with them?
I held a baby yesterday and I now want one so yeah big baby fever. Also these turned into drabbles sorry.
It’s the middle of the night. Asra had woken up from a terrible dream.
He looks around and sees that he’s in the bedroom of the shop. He looks to his left, and sees that MC is sleeping soundly. His heart rate slows back down to normal as he lets out a sigh or relief.
But wait, where is their child?
“Daddy?” a lone voice comes from the foot of the bed.
Asra rubs his sleepy eyes to double check that he’s seeing correctly. Yes, it’s his kid, with his white, puffy hair and the MC’s big eyes. The child looks as if they had just seen a ghost.
“Daddy, I had a nightmare.” They say as they climb onto the bed, crawling up the covers, and finally lying back on the pillow between Asra and MC. “Can I sleep here tonight?”
You and me both, kid, Asra thinks. He’s about to say no, about to tell them to go back to their room. The child is a little older now, they should be able to handle things like this.
But the way the child’s lips quiver and their eyes water get the most out of him. They are, of course, still a kid, needing their parents just like he did a long time ago.
“Okay, fine. But if you kick me in your sleep, the tickle monster will attack you!” He whispers, lightly tickling under the child’s chin. They laugh softly, any sign of fear in their face completely gone, only happiness and love.
As Asra lies back in the bed, the child cuddles up against them, grabbing onto his shirt for comfort. In a matter of moments, they are all happily asleep.
She had stayed up late reading as MC was falling asleep. They had a particularly long day taking care of their little one and needed as much rest as they could possibly get. When this happened, it was nearly impossible to wake them up. So, to pass the time, she had picked out a few books she still needed to finish.
Her eyes were just about to shut when she heard a small knock at the door.
Who would be knocking at this hour? She thought. “Enter.”
The door opened a crack, and out popped the child they had grown so fondly of. It was obvious they were distressed, which tugged at Nadia’s heart.
“Mommy, I had a scary dream. Can I sleep with you tonight?”
She placed the book down as she smiled gently. “Yes, dear, but be cautious.” She pointed at MC lying next to her. “They are deep in sleep.”
The child tiptoed through the bedroom quietly, as if they were not to wake a sleeping beast. Once they were right next to the bed, Nadia leaned over and pulled them into her lap, holding them close to her body as their tiny hands grabbed onto her clothes.
“We don’t want you to be frightened, you know.” Nadia cooed. “If you ever have a nightmare again, you come straight down here and we will comfort you, okay?”
“Okay. I love you, mommy.” The child laid against her chest as she slid down her pillows, her arms cradling the child almost like the day they were born.
“I love you too, darling.”
He’s a pretty light sleeper, due to his nightmares. However, he didn’t expect to be awoken by the pitter patter of his little one’s feet coming into his bedroom. The apprentice still lay sleeping, not moving a single muscle in their deep slumber.
“Papa?” The little voice called out. “Are you awake?”
He sits up in the bed to face their child. His heart breaks when he sees their tear-stained face.
“Oh, goodness, little one,” he says, sliding out from under the covers. He makes his way towards them, hoisting them up to his chest as he laid a kiss on their forehead. “What’s wrong?”
“I had a nightmare, papa. Can I sleep with you tonight?”
His heart warmed up and his cheeks flushed a bit. He knew how scary nightmares could be, and secretly wished he had always had someone to sleep by when he was frightened in the night. Now, his own child was finding comfort and safety while around him. Many years ago, he would have thought the opposite about himself. But now, he had the love of his life sleeping by his side, a child formed from their love and dedication to each other…
“Of course you can, dear. But be quiet, so you don’t wake them up!”
They put their hand over their mouth and nodded, obeying their father’s orders. Julian carried them over to the bed and tucked them in right between himself and the apprentice.
“Better.” The child smiled a big, toothy grin. “Goodnight, papa.”
And the three of them dozed off, sleeping nightmare free.
He was sitting by the fire, carving away at a toy he was making for his child. His love was sleeping with a fur skin wrapped around their body and Inanna lying next to them. As he was about to put the toy away and head to bed, he saw something move out of the corner of his eye.
He immediately stood up, squinting his eyes in the dim room. “Who’s there?” He asked, assuming someone had snuck in to his home.
But he was relieved to see that it was only his child, carrying a blanket with their thumb in their mouth.
“Dada?” They whispered. “I had a nightmare. Can I sleep with you?”
“Ah.” He sighed, “of course. Everything okay?”
He bent down, picking the child up and holding them on his chest, patting their head softly. The mere size of the child shocked him, compared to his giant stature. He remembered when he could hold the child in the palm of his hand. Now, a few years later, they have grown so much but not enough.
He laid the child on a fur blanket next to his other parent. “Warm enough?”
The child nodded, snuggling into the blanket. “Thank you, dada. I love you.”
His cheeks flushed lightly, the confession of his own child taking him off guard. “I love you too. Sleep well.” He kissed them lightly on the forehead and settled in for a restful night of sleep.
She was giving Pepi a late night meal, well past the time she should be in bed. Everyone in the cottage was already asleep. As Pepi munched on their kibble, a yawn racked through her body. The moon was high and the stars sparkled like her lover’s eyes. It was time to finally sleep.
She picked up a dim lantern to help guide her way through the darkness. Before she took one step, she felt something tugging at her pants.
“Pepi,” she cooed, “I’m not gonna give you another meal.” But as she looked down, she realized it wasn’t the cat at all.
“Momma?” Her child tugged at her pants again. “I just had a nightmare. Can I sleep with you tonight?”
Her free hand rubbed the top of their head, messing up their wild hair even further. “Of course, darling. There’s nothing to be scared about when you’re with us.” She took her child’s hand and led them to her bedroom.
When they arrived, MC was sound asleep already. She held her finger in front of her lips to let the child know to be silent as they got into bed. They mimicked her movements, a smile creeping over their face.
She set the lamp down on the side table, then placed their child right in the middle of the bed. They immediately tucked themselves under the covers as Portia joined her little family. Even Pepi joined them all, lying on Portia’s feet.
“If you get scared again, just wake me up and I’ll be there for you, okay?”
“Okay, momma. Thank you…” their voice drifted off to sleep.
Portia smiled as sleep began to take her, too. There was nothing more that she ever wanted than to have her loving family surrounding her in the dark hours of the night.
