Not to sound like I'm over-analyzing a netflix christmas movie again but the whole "charity doesn't really help the homeless" thing Ellen said in Christmas Inheritance seemed out of place for her. The whole cartwheeling thing she did at the party was done to get more money for charity. It would have made more sense if when Jake asked her why she didn't give the homeless guy money, she said "well I'm from New York, you see a lot of homeless people there, and you can't help them all, so I'm desensitized to it now." She still has that kind of snobbish attitude about it but it's more about her being detached from people, which is how she's been since her mom died. So when she goes to bring the homeless guy in, it shows that she's started reconnecting with people like she hasn't since her mom died.
