The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin deserves to be better known. It's a clever, twisty mystery centered around the unusual will of wealthy industrialist Samuel Westing; his sixteen heirs (most of whom, not coincidentally, live in the same apartment building) are divided into pairs to solve a puzzle where nothing is what it seems.
My whole family has loved this book since I was a kid, and my latest reread of it inspired me to try to capture the Westing heirs and their distinctive personalities.

The sun sets in the west (just about everyone knows that), but Sunset Towers faced east. Strange!

Three Sentence Review: I am so glad that I took the opportunity to re-read this excellent story after finding it at the library. It was one of my favorite reads in elementary school, and it absolutely still holds up. I remembered a lot of the story, but there were still plenty of minor details that managed to take me by surprise again!
