Lol had the thought that Mordecai is the dad friend of the group. He’s the one making sure everyone has potions, knows how their skills work, and if they’re staying hydrated. Carl could be the dad friend, but he’s busy blowing shit up and making sure Donut doesn’t take over the damn universe with her batshit charisma.

Carl is the Big Brother and Mordecai is just trying to make sure this idiot doesn’t blow himself up in another batshit plan to Stick It To The Man.

I don't see Carl as a dad friend. Carl reminds me of the cool older brother from another marriage or, the uncle that gives you your first beer while showing you boat stuff or telling you about something that happened while he was in service.

Mordecai definitely reads reluctant father. Like, he didn't want kids but he really liked their mom so he is like "Well fuck. Guess I have to love and cherish these little people." as he is writing little notes for their lunch boxes with little smiley faces.
