It’s a girl!
After her crushing heartbreak, Ellen became determined to solve the mystery. Something strange happened during her first investigation, but it lasted briefly.
Ten minutes before takeoff
Ellen: Laurie! What are you doing, Laurie? Please stop! Laurie: I've made such a mess. I have to get out of here! Now! I have to! That man... I don’t think he’s dead, but I hurt him. Really badly. Ellen: You can't pilot that ship! You have no idea how! Laurie: I don't care. I just have to get out of here. I've done something awful. Terrible. Ellen: Well... I'll take you. Let's go. Laurie: What?! Ellen: Why not? Everyone else in the family is settled. I'm just... floating. You’re my cousin. We Lees stick together. So let's go. We'll leave a note and let the others know. We can call later from wherever we go, right? Laurie: I guess so? Ellen: All right. Let's go! Man, this is wild!
Ellen: Nia, I love you with all my heart. Will you marry me? Nia: Uhhhh... Ellen... I can’t...
(Dang, this also happened to her great-aunt!)
Ellen did some investigating into the town mystery but didn’t find too much.
Ellen: Gidge, it’s fine! Honest. I’m happy for you. If you love him, then that’s all there is to it.
A few months later...
Lilith: Mom, why are we here? I miss Cousin Laurie!
Ellen: Well, Lil, remember what we talked about? Us moving to the city? This is our new home! It’ll be great. There’s all sorts of fun stuff to do right around our apartment building.
Ellen thinks: And we’re out of that awful Strangerville, for good!
